Yup....it's dumb. That's why I won't get another new Chevy. I have an 02 Silverado, but it didn't have any options, I got the base model to work with so I was lucky.

They did that just so you gotta either pay the extra monry to replace the stock HU or you have to go back to Chevy to get things done and they can charge you out the ass for it.

Red Tops are much better suited for constant use type applications.
