  2. where are you looking, there are plenty of places out there. Don't narrow the brand that you want just yet
  3. I recommend against the use of a capacitor, especially in an ailing electrical system. They don't hold much power, discharge almost immediately, and once that happens - it is just another draw that the alternator needs to meet. It can be very helpful to do the big 3 to your vehicle too, I just learned that. or upgrading to a hi-output alternator ofcourse
  4. post pics of the box and call it a build log, change the title too lol. welcome to the forum, these people are very helpful if you every need help or advice. I myself have 2 SA-12D4s and I am ordering a Skar VVX-12D4 for my own build. Fosgate is good, but the other competition sub brands are pretty BA for a lower price
  5. from what I understand, caps are only useful if your alternator can't keep up with the amp and you get a voltage drop. In most cases though people will just throw an extra battery in the trunk
  6. That's old and it looks to be in GREAT condition, but I'm sure everyone has already told you that in the thread though lol. go for it if you want an old school build
  7. I'm looking for one Skar VVX-12D4 shipped to 16504. I'm curious about this brand because they are so new. I know lot of people are trying to sell Skar audio right now and I'm looking!!!
  8. I'm loving the leather wrap, looks very clean man
  9. think i could get a mod to move it? give it a shot, try PMing one of the mods, your other option is to just copy paste everything which shouldn't take very long either, still a pain in the ass though
  10. this might get more attention if you post your build log here instead nice build, gotta love those CF dust caps http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-%26-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/
  11. I have ordered from monoprice before and their aux cords are really thick, so if you don't mind a really thick cord then go for it. They do have great prices though
  12. no problem. I do use them actually, I have a home audio system that was built that I use them on right now for the amp and for my ipod. They are awesome and I haven't had a problem with them yet. They are pretty beefy too.
  13. So far so good, is the amp 2-ohm stable and 500wrms @ 2-ohms? If so then I'm going for a very similar setup, except I'm using a Kicker amp and the Skar VVX-12 D4 sub. Let me us know how it sounds.
  14. i dont understand this photobucket thing lol save the photo somewhere on your computer, make a photobucket account, load photo to photo bucket. It will appear in an album. Below the photo will be 4 different type of links that you can use to share to other people. The last one (especially forums) is the one that you want to copy and paste when you want to show a picture of the forum.
  15. my favorite is from monster, there equipment not only looks good, but it's built well and performs well http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=5149
  16. This is making more sense now, you're very helpful. Now am I looking at the gross volume or net volume to use your hypothetical 3 ft^3 box?
  17. I was just unsure of what this meant
  18. just to confirm, you are talking about area(in^2) / port volume (ft^3)?sorry for the all the questions, I just want to learn it and do it right the first time.
  19. what does the aero 8 designate?
  20. isn't there a rule of thumb for port area per foot that I should be aiming for?
  21. ah, I got it lol. 2in * 13in = 26in^2 lol duh. and It's in range too, so this looks good to go then?
  22. by port area, is it talking about the cross-sectional area of the port? or a top-view looking at L-shaped area?
  23. I'm running bootcamp on my mac so taking screen caps is weird. It just took me a little bit to figure it out then upload it to photobucket.
  24. hey, I have a buddy helping me with my system and he has taught me the basics to the torres' box tuning calculator. I am building a ported enclosure for a VVX-12 Skar audio sub in my car, and I am not familiar with the general rules of thumb for the port dimensions. Check this out and please help me out and point me in the right direction. I'm aiming for 35Hz btw. Thanks a lot.
