Oh I misread what he said lol. But yeah, I trust what most of the people say on this forum, that's why I ask so many questions. Whenever I get to thinking and I have doubts, I come here. So if everyone on SMD are a buncha DC Audio nut huggers, count me in. I haven't got bad advice yet. -

Lol alright, I've honestly never heard DC. Only what I've seen on YouTube or read about in people's BLs on here. So y'all say that even Level 2 DC subs rape the P3's? I ask because I can buy 2 P3's on ebay for $180 free shipping no tax, or invest a little more money and grab the DC's. I had a short email conversation with Rusty today and even the Level 2's are gonna run me more than the P3's. -
Wow I didn't expect such a reaction to my useless thread haha. Yeah I guess I already knew the answer, but here's where the BS power ratings really get me. Guy: How many watts are you running? Me: Ehh, about 1000w total. Guy: Oh, well I guess that's good. I'm running 2500w. Me: What equipment? Guy: Sony Xplod. Okay, when I said I was running 1000w, that was RMS. NOT THE MAX RATING ON THE FRONT OF THE AMP. If that were the case, I would have a 2280w system. And I bet my system not only sounds 10x cleaner quality wise, but also is 10x louder.
-
Why do audio companies like to advertise "X" wattage on their amps, when there's no way in hell it would ever produce that much wattage? Prime example: My RF amp say's 1800w on the front of it. Yeah I'm gonna throw the bullshit flag on that one. It does 600w (underrated, more like 750w) x 1 @ 4 ohms bridged. Or 300 (more like 375) x 2 @ 2 ohms. Neither of which are close to 1800w. Some people have said they can run theirs in lower ohm loads, some say they fry. Just a gamble on that.

5 Channel Amp?
Dylank811 replied to Dylank811's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Are you going to be putting one up for sale soon? Yeah. My personal 5.1k. It's going to waste as a highs only amp, 1150watts just sitting at idle. My DD ZSE takes care of the lows. Alright, well when the time comes I'll have to see what funds I have available. -

I was thinking Team SMD was for the real players haha yeah I don't mind reppin' SMD as long as it's not embarrassing the site. -

Haha I know! But yeah more seriously, I don't know what teams are out there that are even close to my level but I'm sure you have to be able to offer something in return. Maybe I can benefit them? Idk maybe I'm just making myself sound retarded even asking. -
Are there any "teams" or groups someone such as myself could join just so I can feel like I'm part of something cool? Haha maybe I'm too nooby with this stuff, but if you got time check out my build log if you haven't seen it and maybe I'll be worthy enough to join something. Plus, I could always use connections when trying to buy this expensive ass equipment on a broke high school, now college kid's budget. Edit: And then I can put a cool sticker on my car and make people think I'm important, until all my stuff gets stolen.

5 Channel Amp?

Never have understood JL's insane pricing. I guess they're proud of themselves or they're really that good. -
Alright, so after all this advice, I took a look at my current wiring under the hood. I should've taken pictures, but now it's dark out and they would be useless. I'll do my best to describe the wiring. My ground wire appears to be roughly 4 AWG wire. The copper threads look quite a bit thicker than the threads in my amp power wire. It comes off the battery and is ran down to a spot on the right wheel well, and then a new piece continues from this bracket to my engine block. My positive takes off into the wiring harness and I didn't trace all the stuff out, but it ends up coming back to my alternator as (roughly) 2 8 AWG wires stuck together. The power wire is also heavily frayed near the battery and just shitty looking is the best way to describe it. The terminals also are crap. My thoughts are to replace the end of the power wire with a replacement from an auto parts store and make the splice a cleaner connection with the proper materials. I want to get 2 new battery terminals (with a volt meter, yay for goodies) that have the proper and cleaner holes to correctly place the components. I might also disconnect my ground wire from the wheel well and sand the area again since it is so nasty. I will either clean or replace the bracket holding the ground wire in place on the wheel well. I believe with this I should be able to avoid the big three right now. I don't see why I would need 1/0 AWG wire when I'm only running 4 AWG right now anyway. If I'm wrong, please feel free to tell me I'm stupid and offer advice.

Lol yeah I understand. It's no problem; I just wanted to see if it was something to prevent spammers, but clearly I'm on here for the purposes of the forum. -

Yeah I know what you're insinuating and yes, I read them too. Otherwise I would have nothing to reply to. Comments that are one line long don't take me 20 seconds to read and I have FIOS so internet load time is almost instant. Yeah I try to use it! -

So, you double post? Thats against the rules man... Not really on purpose...I'll read one of the replys and respond to it and by the time I go back someone else replied. Or I just don't see the other one before I reply. I feel like I'm being mildly persecuted for asking a question haha. -

It's usually if I'm replying to a bunch of different things. Especially if I don't use multiquote. I thought it might have been a forum noob thing. It's only irritating if I'm in a hurry and I have to sit there and count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... (I remember something with numbers, horns, and gold spraypaint XD)
