  1. Well i'm figuring that i'll put the port inside the box plus sub displacement and bracing the living hell out of the box should eatup atleast one cube of air, if not more.
  2. I just picked up an 18" BTL from my buddy and i want to build a box. I need it to be skull crushing bass that will slam all day long, not just a burp monster. My truck alots 8 cubes of air space, before port and sub displacement (of course bracing as well) I was thinking of doing a 6 inch Aero port because i hear they are more efficient. By my calculations (courtesy of a port length calculator online) i came up with the 6 inch port being ~5" tuned at 32 hz. Does that sound right to everyone? Anyone and everyone's input is welcome and needed.
  3. That's actually a bit more than i was looking for. The subs total can handle around 2500, 3000 is pushing the coils a bit.
  4. Damn that thing looks loud as hell. Mine would be walled off in an extended cab Ranger. But a couple people suggested doing 10-10s which i'm assuming you saw and than i could port it, which will be nice since i like that deep boom as well. i wish i could have heard those 16 slammin away.
  5. I'm waiting on a response from Bill, just sent him an e-mail Keep the amp handy i should have an answer for you in a few days, but if you sell it by all means please don't wait for me. Keep the opinions coming guys, i know the Hellfire looks like a strong amp and i'm sure it is, but i'm not 100% on it yet. Or if you prefer to approve an amp already suggested, please post that too, the more response i get, the easier it'll be to spend the coin haha
  6. If i could i would, but i'm gettin a steal of a deal on the 10s, $30 each, i can't really say no
  7. Who do i talk to about the Hellfire? How much were you lookin for? That is a damn sexy amp
  8. As posted in the subs and enclosures section, i'm considering a wall with 10-10s (MTX 4500s). I need opinions on an amp that'll run a safe, stable 1 ohm load that will rms around 2500 watts. Any and everybody's opinion is welcome and needed!!
  9. Which amp to run on 10-10's question posted in the amplifier section, don't be afraid to leave your opinions there as well please!!
  10. So I like the 10-10s idea so that i can port the box. It still brings me down to the 1 ohm rating i need. How does that idea sit with everyone else? obviously vs. the 4-12s
  11. I know that the wall would be louder but i'm looking for the deep hit of the ported box as well. I know that i'd have to sacrifice that deep hit with the wall unless i could configure a port that would better the wall but i'm limited on space in an extended cab Ranger. The 12s would be seeing about 3000 rms while the 10s would be seeing about 4000 rms I'd love to be able to do 16-12s but like i said, space is limited. i had the 4500s in a bandpass box when i was in highschool and they slammed pretty hard, granted it was only 10s but hey everyone has to start somewhere right?
  12. I'm in the process of deciding on whether or not i should keep my current system of 4-12" Rockford Fosgate T1s in a ported box of these dimensions: H=30" D=17" W=51" Port of 10"x12"x16" long OR Should i do a sealed wall of 16-10" MTX Thunder 4500 subwoofers in about 15 cubes? Any and everybody's opinion is welcome, i'm lookin for the shock and awe factor but it obviously needs to be loudest too. Get at me about what you think THANKS!
  13. turn the boxes so that the ports are firing up towards the ceiling, u might notice a difference
  14. I also have the option of running 2 smaller amps that could handle a 1 ohm load between 1400 and 1700 rms, which if i could strap them would also work like you said. I can't find the zx amp cheaper than 770 which i guess isn't too bad considering msrp is like 1500 but i still would like some other options
  15. Thanks bro, i've been lookin at the zx2500.1 but i'm not 100% on anything yet, keep the opinions and options coming please!!
  16. I'm looking to buy a new amp that will be able to handle 4-12" Rockford Fosgate Power T1s. I currently have a pair of MTX THUNDER ELITE TE1501D amps which i'm not impressed with anymore. The one amp is on its way back to MTX to be repaired for the 3rd time since I bought it. I need to have an amp capable of between 2500 and 3000 watts at 2 ohm stable. I've got the electrical capability to back up a decent sized amp, but i've gotten so many mixed thoughts on different amps, so i figured i'd ask the top forum and see what comes up. Let me know what you think, PLEASE!!!
  17. gonna be playing mostly rap and heavy bass music, a daily drive capable of hittin HARD
  18. I'm buildin a box for my buddy's tiburon and am somewhat stuck on the port dimensions. The box is going to be 7.7 cu.ft. after sub displacement. My original plan was to tune the box to 29 hz with port dimensions as follows: 10" wide 4" high 11.5" long I was told that it wasn't enough port area and i'd be "choking" the sub. The box dimensions are as follows: 36" wide on the face towards the cabin 20" tall on the face towards the cabin 24.5" wide on the face towards the rear bumper 13" tall on the face towards the rear bumper Angled corners facing the rear bumper measure 13" tall by 6.5" 28" deep on the bottom Top is slanted parallel with the hatch window The sub is going to be firing into the back window and i planned on firing the port into the cabin, but that can change. PLEASE HELP!!!
  19. who do i talk to bout the lvl 4s? and what amps should i look at? price isn't gonna matter too much since the subs are the starting point with the budget and we can work around from there
  20. oh yeah sorry, i'm gonna guesstimate around $1000 or so for the subs alone. But we also need the amps, batteries, alternator, wiring and phatmat to back it all up, which will be on their own bills, but if we can scrounge around for unspent cash, that'll be good
