  1. I rarely see the SMD being ran at 3500w! I have a SAZ3500 @ .35 and it sounds GREAT all the way up! But it does want more power! I am getting a DDz2 on it and wire it up to 1.4 to be safe! It should be under 7k with rise! But a .35 burp will be tempting! What's the most you've put on one?!?!

  3. And what is the magic box size and tuning frequency for the SMD 15"?!?!
  4. ^this. batts > alts. id rather run a larger amp @ 1.4 instead of trying to overwork ur amp @ .35, u have more thd & current draw. That too! I'm looking at a Cactus 5k to run at 1.4 ohms while I build my electrical up, just wondering how it will do at .35 when I get a bigger alt., and/or more batts! I realize I will need at least a few more batts if I do this...
  5. Thank ya'll for the help! I got the port from Lowes! Yep, PVC with a coupler that I flared and painted.. BUILD LOG http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142026-smd-in-a-grand-prix/page__fromsearch__1
  6. I also have an Epic 160, and I did wire each "side" of the amp to each coil so I should be @ .35 ohm
  7. Hey ya'll! I finally got my system in, 4 runs of 0ga., 2 pos., and 2 neg., still got grounds everywhere, the big 3, an Iraggi 300a alt., a yellowtop under the hood, and a XS 3100 and a 3400 in the back. I got a voltmeter hooked up to the amp power inputs. I have a SMD D.7 on a SAZ3500D and it will down to 12v . I was wondering if I should spend my money on dual alt setup, Iraggi said he can do one for my Grand Prix, or another XS3100 and a 3400 for the front?!?! Either will be about the same amount of money, what will be best?!?!? Thank ya'll!!
  8. gotta ask.... back wall of what ....... the enclosure? Yes, a few peeps told me not to have my port close to the back wall of the box.
  9. This install tops all the rest you have done! Mad props to the master! I have a similar build going on with an aeroport and a few people said the port sould be 5-6'' away from the back wall. Yours looks closer, is there any truth to the 5-6'' "rule"? http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142026-smd-in-a-grand-prix/page__fromsearch__1
  10. I saw some of the pics on Facebook and I'm doing a similar re-rebuild in my car, what is that under the motor? Just a block of wood? here is a pic of my box ( on it's back, checking fitment of the sub)
  11. Everybody (and Jacob himself) says the amps are pretty stable down to a half ohm. I will monitor it closely!!! And I saw that with aeroports you don't need as much port per cubic ft.
