  1. The EBP value(fs/qes) is a good way of figuring out what type of box the sub will be best suited in. A value in the 50-60 range is the gray area that can go either way. The further below 50 you go, the better it is for sealed. The further above 60 you get, the better it is ported. Typically speaking. There are always exceptions to the rules, but EBP is a good thing to look at.
  2. For pure spl, yes. Testing and more testing is the only way to get that last tenth on the meter. But for a daily build, accurate t/s parameters are very good at determining what kind of box the woofer will work best in and what specs it prefers.
  3. Oh really is the day of the RE over?? It's just not what it used to be, with the lower lines. MX, XXX, and MT are pretty solid from what I've seen/heard. But compared to their older stuff, the RE to SX lines just aren't what they used to be. I'm not trying to bash them and say they're crap, it's just not what I'd do with my money.
  4. Also, the whole X amount of port area per cubic foot rule is really only applicable when dealing with normal sized boxes. A 6ft^3 box for a single 15" woofer is quite large, and since port area requirements are not dependent on what size box you're running, you don't have to keep the same rule of thumb that you'd use with a normal box.
  5. Agreed, there's a ton of knowledge on the net that can be easily attained.
  6. You should have seen the one I did for my 21" Autotek...that thing peaked hard in big, high tuned boxes.
  7. The SSD is a solid daily sub, one of the best in that price range. I personally wouldn't touch the new RE line ending in "X".
  8. And he could just compensate his lack of power with a slightly larger, more efficient box.
  9. That's some crazy good low-end extension. It's too bad that mechanical power handling will be cut down due to the large box.
