  1. that's interesting. guess you learn something new every day! you should go with 18's instead!
  2. the tuning for the box can depend on many variables. i've heard the rule of thumb for enclosure size is - if you're overpowering the subs go with the smaller end of the manufacturers recommended enclosure size, and if you're under powering them go with the larger end. check out torres box tuning calculator, which is located somewhere on this forum. another variable is the size of your car. if you have a small car, like a hatchback, you might want to tune it lower. the reason being (i'm assuming) is because you are closer to your subs. this usually sounds louder, so you can tune your box lower still be loud. also, as you probably know, lower tuning means better SQ (usually). it's also easier to hear imperfections in the acoustics the closer you are, so better SQ is likely a must. just the opposite applies if you are further away (sometimes). hope that helps
  3. although 1000 watts would make quite a bit of difference IMO... i'm curious to know why you think it wouldn't?
  4. "think" and "heard" were two very important words in that post. i never said or implied the word "fact"
  5. my favorite clip from the italian job http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYXR_f_EoJI
  6. actually... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpsq_61CqMk
  7. i'd go with the 15's. cone area is significant, but i think 1000 watts of power difference would be a lot more significant. plus i hear that 15's play a little deeper.
  8. 2 AQ 2200d's strapped for the amp. xs power d3100 under the hood. 2x xs power d3100 in the back. mechman alt good luck
  9. there's a reason that line of subs is called the seX series. these subs will make love to your ears!
  10. isn't there a pinned thread somewhere about this?
  11. what did you measure that with? not to hate or anything but that number seems a little inflated for some cheap wal-mart subs...
  12. You will be amazed with what these can do for the money spent. Click here to see I have 2 sets of these in my car on a sm4-1000 autotek amp and they will pierce your ears if you want them to. Plus your getting tweeters and crossovers too! or you could get the ks series ones with the tweeters already in them and just set the crossover freq on your hu
  13. radio shack sells subs? try using torres (sp?)box tuning calculator i'd link it but i'm lazy right now, but just search it and you'll find it. i've also used subwoofertools.net before. they seem pretty legit
  14. if you saved up a couple hundred more you could get a btl 18 with the aq 2200d. but that's without wires and stuff
  15. that actually looks a lot more effective than i was thinking. any experience as to how well that works?
