  1. OK, I just might try the plastic bag idea. I will let you know if it works or not. After checking it out in my trunk, their is not a lot I have to do to seal it off, I think. I'll give both ways a try and post my ugly pics later. Oh, I still have my 6.5's in the stock location, what do you think I should do with those? I saw you had you rears in boxes, thats why I asked.
  2. Thanks for the info, I will give them both a call and find out what options they have for me. A 2 year warranty does sound mighty enticing though.
  3. Damn, how many rolls did you use? LOL. It is a good thing my seats can fold down.....and up to hide the mess I am about to make in my car
  4. Is their anything Duct Tape can't do? LOL Thanks for the info guys. I'll start on it in a little while, pictures and all just to see if it changes anything for my car. You don't see a lot of 91 Accords with big systems, hopefully I will be the first and loudest. Going to take a while though.
  5. Thanks, that is exactly the kind of info I needed about the alts. I haven't heard of many people putting "real systems" in this year Accord. I have done a lot of searching and only found a couple small build logs with this body Accord. If you know of any, please links me to them as I am very interested in what they did with the space I have available. Thanks.
  6. OK, thats cool, I didn't know they would include the brackets, if needed. In your experience which has the cheaper price? It is a small factor on when I can start building. I have a big family so I can't just drop it whenever I need. Saving up is more of a bish than waiting after you order the stuff. IMO. I can't stand the planning and saving part of this hobby. LOL
  7. This might be a NOOB question but, if I wanted to do some testing, could I use a blanket to fill the gaps when firing forward from trunk. It is only going to be for testing firing forward, I am not totally commited to the idea just yet, but would like to get it as close to sealed off as possible without making it permanent....or a big mess. LOL Does the tape thing actually work because I have seen people do it that way as well? Any ideas would be helpful, if it works out I will be doing a build log for the box as well as completely sealing it off. If I can get it totally sealed off, will I still need to use sound damping in the trunk or just focus on the inside panels?
  8. Will they be direct bolt on or will I have to get a bracket made for it? I was thinking DC would have it but, I don't know which one would be better DC or Mechman? I see a lot of people using both on the site but I think Mechman has cheaper prices. Would I be better off going with DC? I mean it would match the rest of my system, once I save up enough for everything.
  9. Does anyone know of a real "High Output" alt for my car? I am trying to plan a semi-big system but can't find anything that will keep up with the amps I want to get. The biggest I could find was a 180 amp unit, on ebay no less. If you know anything that will work with a DC 2K or 3.5K and a nice 4 channel, please let me know. I already have a Yellow top under the hood and the big 3 done. It is a daily driver so it will be near full tilt just about all the time, so I know I will need strong electrical to back up how I listen to music. Thanks.
  10. now i can see it lol, thanks.. lol the little girl puts her doll on the trunk Yeah, my daughter loves the bass. LOL
  11. I know I am not on the level with most of the installs on here but. I do have a vid of my very low budget system. I hope you enjoy and don't LOL too much. <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0_Fx-ohLpE&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="576" height="362"></embed>
  12. Is there a build log on this that I somehow missed. I would love to see how the hell he fit that in the trunk. Do you get an improvement sealing them off further back like that?
  13. Why would you think that?(1.5 is quite low..) He hasn't gave any specifications except airspace. How much port area are you gonna use? How much power are you going to use? What would you reccommend for port area? I am probably going to be using a DC 2K to power them. 1.8 cubes(each and it has to be net volume) with about 32sq inches of port each. So 3.6cubes(NET not gross volume) and 60-64sq inches total. But could you state your goals so i can make it more accurate for your goals. What kind of music do you listen to? How do you want it to sound like? Well, of course I listen to rap(Jeezy, Ying Yang, anyone with a nice low beat to it). Some rock and some old R and B. I am looking for something that will sound nice and plays pretty low. I would love to in the 140-145 range with the DC's(I know I am not going to get that with my current setup. If I chose to fire forward and seal off, would I need more port for them?
  14. Sorry, I just used the box recommendation on rockfords site for the P1's, and for their "Power Box" they said give each one 2.1 cubes. I just went a little bigger on size because I plan to brace the Hellout of it. Is the 2.1 still big for the DCs? In torres calc, it says I will have 16.71 per foot. Is that OK, too much, too little?

  16. OK, kind of a weird one but here goes. I currently am running 2 12 inch Rockford P1's in a ported prefab box. The box sucks, so I plan on building a new one this week. The box I am building will be an exact fit for my trunk and will give each sub about 2.5 cubes of space. Tuned at 35-36Hz. My question is will those Level 4's like this box and tuning? It will be a couple months before I get to order my DC gear so i will be using this time to "find the sweet spot" for my car with my not-so-powerful P1's.
  17. Why's that? Essentially, isn't that what a walled of car is? A box firing forward into the cabin, totally sealed off from the rear? because you are trying to pressurize a huge ass area with generally 2 12s or 2 15s, which is pretty hard to do, now if there was a loading wall where the rear seats were, it wouldnt be an issue firing forward sounds better, because of less rattle, but you need something to load off of, i tested this today, and yes, while it sounded cleaner, less rattle, it wasnt as loud as firing off the driver side and sub facing the drivers side... What do you mean by a loading wall? Kind of a NOOB when it comes to firing forward into the cabin and aren't you pressurizing even more area when you fire them toward the rear? The trunk and the cabin? Just trying to find the answers I need before I build my next box. Thanks for the input.

  19. My next question would be, Is that a good difference or a bad difference? I have heard the answer go both ways and am interested in the results. I will be fully sealing this thing off from the trunk. Or as close as I can possibly get without making the box a permanent piece of the car. LOL
  20. I don't know if this is the right section but, is their a musical difference in firing to the rear in trunk vs. sealed firing to the cabin. I have a 91 accord and the back seat folds down completely. I know it is a little more work to seal it off but i just don't like having my subs exposed as this is my DD. Any input would be of great assistance. I am getting a new bigger Rockford amp in a couple days and Want to build a better box for my P1's. Until I get my DC 12's. LOL Also what would be the best way to seal? Foam? Deadner? Or what?
  21. I would def be interested to make the drive once I get my real system but, the rockfords I have right now are just too little to talk my wife into coming with me. LOL I wish I could meet a few guys that are running big systems down here because I am really interested in hearing what a 150+ really sounds like. I have had 142DBs before and I am sure it pales in comparison.
  22. Sorry about that, it was ment for the OP.
  23. Check your e-mail for the team names I came up with. If you like any I'll come up with the logo for it. I hope you like.
  24. Rockford Fosgate 160a2 back in 2000. It was the first amp I ever owned. It was pushing a 12" punch HE2 in a sealed box and sounded OK.
  25. Thanks for the info, I was just trying to find a place close by to get some metering done. I want to see how much of a gain I get from going a box thats wayyyy too small, to a box built to specs. Kind of a before and after, while I am saving up for my DC Level 4s.
