  1. I have never tested any alpine head units so testing would be best. from what I can find on alpine head units if the volume only goes into the 20's then stay at a max of 25 if it goes into the 30's the then like 34.. Thats what other people have tested there alpines clipping at.... but you need tools to test to make sure all output voltage is matched.
  2. that may fix the tweets but I'm almost positive he is still clipping the hell out of his setup...
  3. would the clipping/distortion be caused due to the speakers not being able to handle it? the amp? not properly adjusted? I'm intent on upgrading something anyway. have money I'm supposed to use to buy a new cell phone but would rather it go into my car audio setup. Sorry I have not been by my computer all day.. no all head units clip at a certain volume you need an O'scope or something to test this. With the right tools you can test the output voltage from the head unit and once you do that the you match you're amps output (gain setting) with you're head unit.... not having this set right will cause clipping...
  4. ok I set bass/sub woofer to 0 and drove around for like 30min with the volume at 35(highest my Alpine receiver goes to). Everything seemed to play fine just that occasionally if a song had some intense high's I'd hear really slight distortion just on those parts. Ok don't turn your head unit all the way up because it will clip the signal Im not sure what head unit you have but I would keep the volume at like 5 under the highest. If you can get a DD-1 or a O'Scope to test you're signal and see where it clips or distorts
  5. Yes .....A car battery is a wet cell. Kenetik is great they are dry cell.. get the kenetik
  6. Are they the same model? If they are 2 different years the would be different Edit TRTC360 you beat me to it
  7. Yeah I would say you're probably at a lower voltage by the time it reaches your amp and that could be bad for the amp.. get a battery but make sure its not a car battery that could cause problems also
  8. I would go with a battery in the back be for an alt... also where are you testing voltage and how?
  9. First of all yes get a battery it will help a lot. What size wire are you running? an alt would always help..
  10. From the info that I could find on that amp it takes 14 volts to run it. So if you dropped from 14v in the front to say 12.5 or something at the amp maybe that caused it... just throwing it out their.
  11. So if you have a RCA pre out for the sub do you also have an RCA pre out for the highs... If you don't have 2 runs of rca's from the stereo to the back I would turn down the subwoofer setting and see if it happens again. Anybody else want to add
  12. The volt meter wired to the alternator. Im not sure but I don't think wiring the volt meter to the alt was the best idea you would only be getting that voltage. If you hooked it up to you're amp or the back batts you would have gotten a better voltage reading of what the amp was getting. the big 3 does help a lot. Yes you where dropping from 14 to 13.5 at Idle with the reading from the alt but what was the amp getting?
  13. If its running hot check grounds and make sure you have proper airflow to cool it down. and for the tweets do they have a inline crossover? I blew my first set cause I had the bass on the headunit almost all the way up. yes on the crossover and I made sure to turn the bass all the way down on the amp as the bass is being handled by the Kicker dx500.1 in the rear going to the 2x12 Kicker comps. Even if the bass is turned down On the high amp if you have bass coming from you're stereo it could blow the tweeters So each tweet has it's own inline crossover? Grounds for amp are properly done? speakers are hooked up correctly? and good airflow for the amp?

  15. I had kind of the same problem the other day. I had a bad fuse on power wire from my front battery it was letting very little voltage through I replaced it and worked fine
  16. Can I ask why you have all that wire? What for? Are you running these wires to a battery in the back? Little more info on you're setup If you have a Battery in the back just run the two 1/0 runs back to the battery and use a distribution block from there. Try this My link
  17. I'm gonna be a believer soon. Does it need a "break in " period? I would like to have two 15s after hearing my neighbors setup AudioSavings has them My link
