  1. Great great input so i am more confident in purchasing them... any others input?
  2. so i plan on taking advantage of this months sell and get 2 sa-15. Well i have 2 kicker zx1000.1 amps and going to sell my other 2 15's to help pay for these sa-15's. i would just like to know would they be able to take the 1000wrms daily or should i adjust my amps with the DMM to set volts from speaker outputs to set them around the 600wrms they are rated? I ask cuz i seen people beat these with loads of power
  3. 78065 2 lvl 3 15 or something around 450. total cost
  4. Any other type of sub within my range?
  5. Ok found somethings just now 3 What is the difference between Kapton and aluminum voice coils? Kapton is a non-conductive material and is therefore not influenced by the eddy-current effect like aluminum, when situated in a magnetic gap. In practice this means no mechanical brake and therefore a very high mechanical Q-factor and low Mechanical resistance. Drivers with Kapton voice coil former often perform a more detailed midrange with higher dynamic and less coloration and distortion. Due to the lack of mechanical brake, we do not recommend the use of Kapton drivers as bass driver, because if the x-max is exceeded there is nothing to prevent the driver from bottoming out. For sub woofer applications, please use drivers with aluminum voice coil formers. For use in the drivers with 77 mm and 102 mm voice coils, we have made a hybrid between the two - the Kapton Alu system (KA system). It utilizes the advantages from both systems. When the driver is within it´s x-max, the voice coil works as a Kapton voice coil but if the driver exceeds x-max, it works like an aluminum voice coil, braking the cone. Drivers with Kapton voice coil former, can have a tendency to a more pronounced break-up before roll off, because of the lack of mechanical brake. anyone capable of explaining this?? other references http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/102842-voice-coil-formers-kapton-vs-nomex-vs-aluminum-vs-gf-til.html What's the difference in sound between paper and kapton/synthetic voice coil formers? Is the choice of material substantial to the sonic character? Larry, despite the fact that using a paper former is a great marketing tool for vintage style speakers, the fact is it has no effect on the sound itself. It, like Kapton, is a diamagnetic material, and it's effect on the magnetic field and the effect of the magnet field on the former itself is negligible. The big difference is in the mass, or weight of the formers. In the early 70's when the race was on to have the highest powered solid state amp, speaker manufactures had to keep up by making their speakers take alot of power. Therefore, Kapton was put into use. Because the Kapton is thicker, heavier, etc. (a typical one looks like an orange plastic pill bottle), it takes alot of power to get it moving. So, the movement was to heavier Kapton voice coils, heavy, damped cones, and damped surrounds for a high powered, relatively low sensitivity speaker. Now we're going the other way. Low powered amps, light weight speaker components, and high sensitivity to make the lower powered amps sound huge. The one possible exception to the coil former having an effect is the use of an aluminum former. Some believe that since it is a closed loop of metal, there are 'eddy' currents circulating in the former. These eddy currents could affect the sound by causing a braking action to voice coil movement, thereby increasing the damping of the speaker.
  6. so i guess nno one has heard of Kapton voice coils? hmm must be in low end subs then
  7. ^^ hahaha very true. thank you for clearing that one up... guess i forgot to look at the periodic table in the 4th grade... but yeah i should have know i would get a comment like this when i first posted though... funny but really does anyone really notice the difference in performance?
  8. What are the difference in voice coils? Kapton v. Copper v. Aluminum
  9. ok so are there any other decent subs to choose from?
  10. the price for the 15? cant find it...
  11. thought so i never used the subs just only the amps... i had good experience with the amps.
  12. what about kicker cvx 15's?? i could get them at 150 each new any opinions on these?
  13. seen these and they are nice but would they be able to handle the 1ooowrms to 1 sub? i see they are rated 500-600 wrms Most DEFINATELY. Audioque is a under rated brand. Just like FI, Sundown, an all the other properly made brands. My 15" would be louder with a better amp. (Or a True Class D amp :/ ) Yes i see the hfi in your sig not exactly rated but a good amp none the less. i have also seen the you tubes on these im liking these a lot. the price is more comfortable then the sundown. Do you got any vids of yours bangin?
  14. Ya I have been reading some bad reviews about them, but that goes for all batteries. They cant all be perfect. well to tell you they are ok not the best bet... thats what i got in my cargo but i also paid 50. for it (special thanks to friends at o'riely's) would def choose a different battery if you goin to pay retail on a yellow top. and i believe you alt is stock 90 amps if i remember right
  15. Big 3 first of all.. not that hard i have done a chevy cav not much different cars... could help you with that. and second get a different battery you will spend more for 2 yellows then you would a decent xs power or kinetics. after you spent money on that then see if you got enough for the 4000wrms amp. a h/o alt will be a plus but not completely necessary yet as long as you keep your batts topped off with power. i have a second battery in my cargo with stock alt. and would charge it every nite. so start there then move on. my opinion
  16. lol yes i know... very tempting to get a sub that flex a lot this why i ask for options on what people think
  17. seen these and they are nice but would they be able to handle the 1ooowrms to 1 sub? i see they are rated 500-600 wrms
  18. What he says^^^ your amp makes it easier to wire 2 subs to a smaller ohm load on the mono amp with the 4 terminals. nice option in an amp IMO
  19. lol, seen some sick videos with only 2 man i could imagine 4... although 4 is at 550 i dont know if the wife would let me go over 100 on the budget. i got more around 450 to play with. Seen them they are more like 350 for a single 15. although those xcon seem beast
  20. seen a few youtube shots and seem to be quite impressing. Although i only seen a lot of 1 sub videos there wasnt much of 2 15's. but i seen them get flex a lot of shit
  21. They handle more 600w rms. Do some research. Heres a link with 2 SAZ-2500 strapped to single SA12 lol i did do the research i have seen the outrages amp power they have put to them. i more wanted input from more intelligent people from this site (although some people arent to bright). Also people with experience with them. When i did look for youtube videos of the 15's all i seen were german videos.
  22. I got 2 kicker zx1000.1 which i had to each sub. I did send clipping signal to them. I didnt set gains properly i had them close to max. my noob mistake and each sub claimed 1200wrms so i dont think they were over powered. I had them wired to 2ohm load so i could get the most out the amps cuz the are only 2 ohm stable.
  23. Ok so like it says i need some sub options. well right now i have some sound storm 15's. i blew them awhile back and the company honored the warranty no questions asked. So i just got them in yesterday and was thinking about selling them both for 150. Now i already got 300 to spend and if i sell them i'll have 450. So i would like to know what are some good subs within that range? I would like to stay with 15's and i would like to get loud with good quality. But if i could get just as loud with more speakers at different size then its fine. I own a 07 ford escape so space is not too limited just don't want a wall. (even know i know how much everyone here would like to see a wall) Well i was thinking of taking advantage of the sell sundown has this month but i would like other options??
  24. Is that really all they could really handle? would they be able to handle more? Just wonder cuz i got 2 kicker zx1000.1 pushing 2 15 sound storm subs. would really like to get rid of these sound storms and have a better sub. just dont want to have to completely start over. If thats all they would be able to handle then i guess i could wire them at 4 ohm load cuz if im not mistaken the 1000.1 do 500rms @ 4ohm.
