  1. Just how big ISSSSS the school bus you plan on deadening? 320 square feet is a metric shit ton of that deadener, especially since 100% coverage is not needed.
  2. I asked Jon the same thing. They are their own company and don't have the affiliation with Second Skin. I remember when Jon did all those free samples with the new black foil Damp pro, and the Alpha damp. They have their own website I believe now http://www.alphadamp.com/
  3. It's better in my opinion with the lower number you've just gotten. What does airspace look like since you made the modification? It didn't throw it too far out of whack did it?
  4. That sub is a beast so it's going to sound badass in the right enclosure.
  5. I think the design looks really good. The only part I would tweek is the port area per foot. Tuned as low as 31Hz I don't know that the sub you're using really needs 16 square inches per foot. 14ish might be a little better. So a 3 inch port maybe instead of 3.5, or maybe even 3.25?
  6. I would probably double baffle a box on a sub like that. I also think that's a lot of port area per foot for as low as its tuned. If you're gonna give it 1000W over RMS, that needs to be considered with box design. Airspace might need to be shrunk if you're considering hammering it with 3500W.
  7. You said RIGHT up there "I can't fire subs back like people are saying because..."
  8. No one said to fire the subs back, only the port back. Subs go up, port goes back. Airspace for cone control NEED to be considered if contemplating using that second amp.
  9. Sooooo, you get multiple responses telling you that your box is NOT designed well. Power has NOTHING to do with your problem here, it's your box. You could easily move air and get loud with those subs, in that vehicle, with one of those amps. Build a new box, quit being stubborn. If you're not willing to take advice, don't ask questions. I hate posts like this.
  10. i didnt like him bashing cody, sorry for defending a well known vet of SMD and DC. Your posts didn't bother me at all, it was the other guy's. oh okay :] sorry for jumping you then Haha, I can understand you're on a hair trigger...

  12. Why would guys come in to a thread with no interest in the product? Why when here, would you talk shit? It's clearly a thread for DC 8s. If you don't like DC, DON'T post. If you're not interested in the sub, DON'T post. Jesus guys, this isn't the 8th grade
  13. I'd LOVVVVE to see pics of the rest of the install. With under the hood pics THAT classy, I bet the rest of the install was beautiful too.
  14. That's an absurd install. So she left her boyfriend that same day for being an idiot right? I need the follow up information!
  15. That is right I forgot he wanted box volume information. I hate this trend lately of,"I wanna run 2000 Watts to my CVR" or "I think I can run .5 ohm daily in my Miata" posts. He should have known that with that much power, very small box volume would have been needed. Especially since he's running nice equipment at high voltage.
  16. ^^^^Theres no reason on earth to run that kind of power unless he's chasing numbers. Have DCs number or email on hand for when you need recones. You're not gonna get any gain by running that much power to a sub, considering it can only handle so much mechanically or thermally. I don't know why you even asked the question on the forum to begin with, since you never planned on taking the advice.
  17. Sending 1500W to a sub designed to take 600W won't gain you anything noticeable by ear or on the meter hardly. It's a negligible difference to be honest. What you WILL notice however and become very familiar with, is the smell of Sundown coils when they get hot.
  18. More and more of a trend lately has been everyone wanting to either run .5 ohms on their daily system, or guys wanting to throw a shit ton of power to a sub just because they think it's cool. Dude don't put more than 1000W at that sub if you want it to survive. Sure, some may be able to do it and NOT have problems, but its silly to be honest. You're NOT going to get more performance out a of asub designed to handle 600W by giving it 1000W. It's suspension and coil were designed to handle 600W, and at most 1000 clean Watts. You will not get any crazy gain by giving the sub the power you're wanting to.
  19. I had them set by the good ole ear-o-meter. I wasn't hardly off on the mono amp at all. The highs amp was able to be turned up quite a bit though. It's nice having a clip free HU seriously. I can set wherever the highs start to get a little out of hand and back off a little.
  20. This is EXACTLY the cool story bro I was expecting someone to post, hahaha. Thanks for such a great tool Steve, it's really simplified the process of setting gains and knowing what's going on with a system's settings. On a side note, I must've missed it, I didn't realize these things were being assembled here in Phoenix where I live. I remember talk of coming to visit by Ray and by yourself at one point I think. I guess Tony D stuck around AZ after his days with Fosgate huh? Anyway, like I said earlier, great tool, great price, and great performance. I'm looking forward to buying and trying your other products now that I know the ease of use I've been missing out on. P.S. My girlfriend is the one that got it for me off of Amazon for my birthday and said every review she could find BLEW her mind. She's very supportive of the hobby and brags about the system and my passion to a lot of people. Anyone ever mentions anything system related, she's there to cheerlead for me. Hell, she's even understanding the concept of my Push/pull isobaric after explaining it to her a couple times.
  21. I ran mine at 30 before, I set the amps to just under clipping at 32 so I have headroom. They sound much louder and they never popped before, and still dont. I'm really pleased and I had gains set in like 10-15 minutes for both amps and HU. I can't wait to setup guys around here if they want. I don't know a lot of fellow SMDers here in Phoenix, but I'm sure they'll come out of the woodwork.
  22. I know I'm a little behind the curve, but I received my brand new DD1 a couple days ago. No need for pics, since everyone knows what they look like. I was happy to set the gains on HU and both amps. System is much cleaner PLUS the Kenwood KDC-HD552U is clip free all the way to 35 I would like someone to give me a cool story bro, that is all.
