I ran a bxi2608d, was a great amp

Facing forward, the soundwave has less time to fully develope, thus hurting the lows. Where's as facing to the rear, the wave reflects off the trunk then continues into the cabin. Low frequencies are "longer" waves than higher. Also sealing off is the way to go and you want you box as far back as possible to allow for better wave development.

I've had amps take a few min to fully discharge and the LED would remain lit for a few min. But if it killed the battery, it sounds like an internal issue, also try leaving the pos power input off for a few min and hook it all up. One of my 3k amps had a similar issue, cut the remote off a few times. then took the batt power lead off, hooked it back up. problem solved
