wow you guys are harsh.. Forums are meant to help educate individuals, give him a chance. Welcome to SMD Austin. What amp are you running to the subs? What the other guys are trying to say.... is that pyramid doesn't make high quality products, and if you build your box right it will probably cost more than your subs. It is advisable to run 1 good quality sub rather than multiple poor quality ones.

So over the last few months I have put a lot of work and money into my car (92 mazda 323). Overall I am happy with the car but it still needs a lot of work still. Mainly I am getting tired of dealing with the normal problems from a 20 year lod car. It needs body work and painted. New glass for front and rear windshield. needs new motor mounts, springs, harmonic balancer, etc. etc. I would really like everyones opinion on if I should keep it or sell it. If I do sell it I am getting a midsize or full size SUV. I just spent all day outside working on it and it ust feels like each time I fix one thing 3 more problems pop up.

It really sounds like you shorted something out. Your fan is controlled by relays that adjust according to temperature. and the fact taht your draining power also makes me think this.

Okay I was exactly like you when I was younger. Shops are more about remote starters and alarms that's where they make the money. If you don't know how to do them most shops don't want to waste the time to train you. As for the MECP certification.....It is pretty worthless to most shops. You can order the book for $35 dollars and take the test and your certified. Most shops know that it is really simple to get. On the other hand Best buy requires an MECP certification. I would definetly start there. Even if they don't have an installer position available you are a definite candidate for the sales floor and shops do like that. My advice. Start a portfolio and focus on how "clean" your install is, and any setups that go beyond a basic sub and amp (how you do connections, how you tape or clean up the wires.) Get MECP certified. You may not even have to order the book. Last I remembered they had a sample test you can take. start at best buy or try detailing at a shop and get promoted.

I literally just got done doing this. I just did a custom bus bar on my batteries and ran dual inputs for both amps.

okay. First I would highly recommend that you don't post your age. (just trying to be helpful) The subs your looking at are okay but everything else looks worthless. The amp looks like it might push 200 watts max and I've never heard of that brand. Since you don't have a car don't waste your money just to have something wait and get good quality that way when you do get a car you will have a much nicer setup. The power converter you are looking at is only rated at 10 amps so it will not work if you push more than 100 watts from it. The box is good if your going to run it in a car.

mine was different they offered me a set of neons for $99. I passed on it then they offered a streetwires install kit (8 gauge) for $39. I went back and accepted the neons after I was told I had to purchase something to move up. Then I got offers on window tint and a pioneer cd player. I stopped using it at that point. I got really good discounts at a local shop and I just stuck with that. If you don't have any support at all and you are upgrading everything in your car then I'd say you can give it a shot. But you could end up losing a lot of money because you are forced to buy something that you may not want to stay active in the program.

Yes its legitimate but also a scam. I signed up 5 years ago with them. You start out with an offer for something small like neon lights that they offer you at a dicounted price. The price isn't much better than what you can buy online. To move on to the next "level" you have to buy one of the initial offers. It's basically a platform of stages. You have to start small and then eventually you'll get some really good deals.

My advise to the guy looking for sponsorship was spot on, "friend" and that is coming from someone who has build around a dozen cars for SEMA and had plenty of sponsorship myself. The rest was my opinion, thats cool, I am glad we are all glad. Alive and well is your "opinion". I dont think they guys that worked at Eclipse think it is alive and well. Or Kenwood that got bought up by JVC, or Orion, PPI and ADS that went bankrupt or MB Quart that went under. How about Hifonics that used to be a good brand. Then there are the companies that laid off 1000s of employees combined. Do they think it is "alive and well". Maybe alive but certainly not well. There is a small group of competitors and hardcore guys in the niche that high end audio has because. That does not mean the "industry" is alive and well. That is my opinion based on many facts, This is a forum where people are allowed to express opinions, or I thought it was. So what if companies were bought out or closed down. That doesn't mean that the entire industry is dying. That just means there are a lot of companies and some aren't very profitable. Are you saying that your going to stop buying cars? The automotive industry took a huge hit and the only reason gm didn't officially close is because of the bailout. Are you going to stop watching movies because blockbuster is going bankrupt, and hollywood video closed? There are a lot of businesses closing, it doesn't mean that the industry is dead.

I need 0/1 power wire If I can't find any at a good price I am going to go with a 50ft roll of Knu flexs cable (for price comparison). I also need 1 or more batteries. I need a good replacement for under the hood and preferable looking for 2 or more kinetik 2400's for the rear but I'm open for other options.

I'm pretty sure you were talking about carsponsorships.com??? Anyway you are going to have to invest your own money to get sponsored. There is a pretty popular guy in the car audio world which is a perfect example on how to get sponsored. Run 4 18's that you paid for yourself.....posts 100's of youtube videos then people will come to you and ask you to use their products. The companies know your going to continue to post vids and they want in. Then you can start your own website and product line...... Sponsors want to know without a doubt that you are a good marketing tool for them. You are gonna have to spend your own money to start. My best advice for you is to find a local shop that is up and coming and see if they can give you close to dealer price. slap their logo on your car and buy what you can when you can. In a few years you will have a better chance of being sponsored. On a side note sponsors make you sign a contract with obligations that you have to fulfill. I went looking for a sponsor this year and got one offer but I was required to get 2 $3000 buy-ins and run their tent at 3 shows or I paid msrp for the products. I had no problem running tents but i couldn't guarantee 2 buy-ins within 1 year so I had to pass.
