  1. I have a 3000 watt amp wired to .5 running off 1 XS Power D3100 and a stock 105 amp alt, 60 amps at idle. I never see any significant voltage drops or dimming and I've been doing this same set up or more a few years. A HO Alt is always a good choice for an upgrade, but start off with your batteries and if you need more then look into an alt. Some like to think that adding more batts isn't going help and will strain your Alt, but thats wrong. More good quality AGM batts will put less strain on your alt, and for a stock alt thats a good thing. Nathan from XS Power posted the same thing in the XS Power area on CACO.
  2. Could try a smaller XS Power battery in the front, like a D5100, and go big in the back, providing you have more than 6" width in the rear. A single D5100 and a D3100 should be fine. Best thing I can suggest is going with those two batteries and see how your system responds, if you have voltage drops or dimming then add one more D3100.
  3. had a friend swap his battery and it did the same thing, the connections looked good and his battery was at 12.6, but wouldn't start the car. Turned out the connection at the terminal wasn't tight enough. Took it off and reinstalled the wires and it started right up.
  4. I can't see why not, as long as those speakers can really handle the 180 watts. The amp should play the four sets with no issues, and adding another set or two will just drop the impedance to 2 ohms, which will still work with that amp. I'm picking up my 175.4 in the next couple months to run 8 pairs of separates.
  5. I'm gonna be having a wall built in my 2005 Astro sometime during the next comp season. I know I'm gonna need to add a couple extra leaf's to the rear suspension, but what about the front? The wall will actually be in the rear of the van, so the majority of the weight will be in the rear and not at the B pillar. Anyone do a wall build in an Astro before? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm going to have to buy before the wall goes in.
  6. Did you use a friends TL or was this at a comp? If this is a comp box then yeah, you might want to alter the tuning frequency closer to the resonant freq of the vehicle, if this is a daily box then you may want to leave it alone. Depends on your goal with this system.
  7. An Atomic 5000.1 is a good choice too, not sure what you can buy it for but pretty sure it's close to $1000. I ran one on a pair of DC XL 15's for a while, and also used it on a pair of 10" lvl 4's. Never had a problem with the amp.
  8. Unless it's for competitions, in that case your required to have a battery in the stock location.
