  1. I'm going to be around the shop all day for anyone who wants to come shoot the sh!t
  2. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. this works with many of life's lessons
  3. Iraggi just started building alts again, Richard @ Techforce has his info, pretty sure you can look him up on FB as well
  4. Had 2 of these kenwood amps on 2 of these Orion XTR3 10' Those were the days PS, I had to build an amp rack with computer fans on its to keep the kenwood's cool they're not 1 ohm mono stable lol, so they got hot! but never burnt up
  5. OK here's what I did, I took a single 12 in a sealed box and ran a sweep, term lab said my res freq was 49 hz, so I built the box with 16.15 in^2 of port per ft^3 of net volume for an (18") and tuned to 46, and it worked out good my peak is 49hz, I would try and track down someone with a TL and start there, spl boxes are normally fairly small (around mins for sub spec) lots of port, lots of power.
  6. correct! im looking to get 50s out of this 18s, and my 6th order experience is lacking to say the least which is why I started this thread
  7. I hear 2:1 is a good place to start, like 3ft^3/6ft^3,6"aero/12"aero, 60hz/30hz
  8. Or not. why not? He may be a bit more well versed in the art of designing a 6th now but I wouldn't know. I went to him for my first 6th order and had it built up from his design. 2 18's, IA Wardens with 2 Addictive Audio 500.1s. Let's be conservative and say 6000rms and it was doing 149db, and smoke was billowing out of the box because they would heat up so fast. When I messaged him about it, he blew it off like it was completely normal. Sorry but that is not a normal score for that power and those subs especially with that speed of them heating up. damn that sucks, im doing 149s on less than 3k with a ported box and 2 sa15s I dont want anyone to get in trouble, please make sure you can offer services on SMD, I would hate for someone to get banned

  10. Now that I have the attention of half the people on SMD, I need someone to design me a 6th order, RAM is my usual guy but he said he didn't feel comfortable doing it, who wants the job? who has the time? and yes it pays.
  11. If their 2 way crossovers single input dual output ( one for tweeter one for mid driver )or a single crossover for the type of driver your using then yes a crossover is a crossover, but the frequency range is what differs from different brands and models
  12. ok There is no magic number that works for everyone, Yes you need it to be at least the distance your port is( if that makes sense lol) but its hard to find the "sweet spot" with out a spl meter, my port is 4x35 but 17" from the back of my hatch is where its the loudest, hope it helps
  13. I would do a Big 3 for sure 150 amps should be plenty for that kind of power
  14. I also got RAM to slap me one up daily box for 2 sa15s 35hz, did a 49.3 on 3k
  15. All the good HO alts come with a smaller (under drive) pully which spin the alt faster at lower rpms, Their cheap and they work.
