  1. What do you giuys think about a downloads section for useful car audio tools? such as air space calc., box building programs, misc. freeware for car audio stuff. No piracy though, don't wanna start up any trouble! Maybe not even a downloads section but a forum with a directory of links to downloads or web pages where misc. calculators are available for free use? Just a thought. I have several such links, just thought we might be able to get a place to put them.
  2. it's not that simple. batteries are made to store power not release it quickly. that is what capacitors are made for. I am starting a new build. setup is as follows: 2 rockford T3k's 1 rockford T800 8 rockford T1 12's 3 H.O. alts 3 optima yellow top bateries (1 for each alt) I'd really like 1 of those stinger caps for each of the T3k's. I have a friend that put 1 on his amps & it made all the difference in the world! he had a JL 500.1 on his highs & 2 JL 1000.1's on 2 W7 10's. 2 yellow top optima batteries & 3 1.2 farad caps on a stock alt. he had to charge his bats all night to get 15 minutes of play out of it. he came across one of those stingers & ended up taking out both batteries & the 3 caps! so he ran a stock alt, 1 stinger 35, 1 JL 500.1, & 2 JL 1000.1's with no problem. I was really suprised myself! He is the type of guy that bangs his shit all day long for hours on end! his lights don't dim, hasn't burnt up anything & amps don't even get hot! I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever used them before with similar results?
  3. I am looking for some feedback on these capacitors. Stinger - SHDH35 - HYBRID 35 farad capacitor. I'm not sure if they are enen in production any more. I'd sure like to have 2 of them. just wondering if you duys had ever had any experience with them?
  4. yeah champion is real easy to deal with. they don't have a minumim order either. I am in Louisiana & they ship to me overnight with no problems. Their prices are pretty reasonable also. They are also very good with warranty issues. I've never had a problem with returns or exchanges on broken equipment. I would suggest buying in bulk though. The ups charges will start adding up if you only get a few items at a time.
  5. http://www.champaudio.net/ try that link. the products posted on their website are stuff that they make. they have some decent stuff. the provision tv's are pretty good for the price. they carry alot of name brand stuff too. they just don't have it on their website. they are trying to push their gear.
  6. welcome to the biz! here is a list of distributors for car & home audio, video, accessories, wheels & tires. I use all these guys. I find that SSR & champion audio are really reasonable on car audio & video. Q power has the cheapest wire I can find anywhere but they ship by the pallet & I think that minumum order is $500. They will work with you though. I hope this helps. King Kong Electronics 713-784-9714 9:30-6:30 7110 Harwin Fax:713-784-9777 Champion Audio – 713-781-4282 Fax: 713-781-0116 5650 Fondren Rd. 7. I'm not sure what you didn't to when installing your dynamat? If applied correctly is is almost impossible to remove much less fall off! First off you need to properly clean the surface you are going to apply the dynamat to. An old rag & acetone works great to clean with. After you have cleaned the surface you need to cut the dynamat to fit the area you want to stick it. Next the dynamat should be heated with a heatgun until it is nice & flexible, almost like hot glue coming out of a hot glue gun. It doesn't hurt to warm up the surface you are sticking it to as well. Now just lay the dynamat up there where u want it & use a roller to lay it down. If you don't have an actual dynamat roller try using a back massager with wheels on it. You can get them at walmart for next to nothing. Just find one that fits in your hand that has wheels that roll. If you do these steps there is no way in hell that it will ever fall off.
  8. just cut 2 pieces of cloths hanger 8"'s long, bend them in a U shape and put them in the factory holes. use a small screw driver to get the radio started out of the dash. once you get it started it should slide right out with no problem.
  9. here are the specs for a type R ported box per alpine. The dimensions may not be exactly what you are looking for but they can be modified to fit your car. this box is for 1 sub! you need to double the #'s for 2 subs or build 2 single boxes. you can go to my website and download my airspace calculator to modify the box to your car. www.3rdcoastcustoms.net it runs off microsoft excel. untitled.bmp
  10. I haven't messed with memphis amps much but it is hard for me to go against RF. I've got 2 RF T30001BD's & I have had no problems running them. I'm running 1 on 4 12's with 1 yellow top stinger & a single 200 amp alt.
  11. sounds like some shady shit to me! I would also think there you would be exempt from a loud music ticket at an event? as far as the windows, I you were not actually driving the car on a public roadway (street, highway, interstate, ect.) you should be able to beat the tint ticket. There is no law that I know of that a vehichle which is not being driven can't have super dark windows. you can obtain a copy of tint laws from llumars website. http://www.llumar.com/na-eng/Automotive/auto-tint-laws.html# I really think that you could probably beat the music ticket also if you take it to court. as long as you have your event registration information you could probably get out of it. hell just bring your trophies! good luck.
  12. here is the link to the dropjaw mag coverage. My truck is on page 26!!! http://www.dropjawmag.com/2007/gatordrag/gatordragindex.htm
  13. Here is a diagram of how to wire a "pop Trunk" correctly. Most people cut corners and end up tearing up the trunk trying to wave it. Wiring the trunk this way will only allow the trunk to make a complete open or close. Hope this helps.
  14. show will also be in next issue of drop jaw magazine. http://www.dropjawmag.com/2007/index.htm
  15. Thanks man. I hope to add more vids soon. I am in the process of building a new house / shop. I should be moving in next weekend.
  16. Well I forgot the camera when the dragging took place. there are some vids of my truck and my brothers truck also. i got a vid of the acoustic edge hummer as well.
  17. oops! my bad! http://www.3rdcoastcustoms.net/videos.html

  19. Well the show was awesome! Here is a link for show pics. I'll post the link for the vids as soon as I get them uploaded. http://www.3rdcoastcustoms.net/Gatordrag_07.html
  20. oh yeah! The laws were in Beast Mode Last night!
  21. This is an annual event in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It's really not an official "car show". More like a bunch of people getting together to show of their shit. The event is held at the Lake Charles Civic Center. It is always crowded. Usually the cops realize that they are out numbered and keep their distance but this year it really went down! The cops arrived in about 45 minutes armed with pepper spray and paintball guns with pepper balls. It was a really fucked up situation. Nobody was causing trouble! It was just another Easter Sunday get together that the police felt the need to break up. The cops were firing pepper balls into the crowds and shooting them into cars that had their music up loud. All I had was my camera, so I managed to take 40 pictures before I got ran off. I wish I could have took a video of the super troopers in action! here is a link to the pics. http://www.3rdcoastcustoms.net/Easter_Sunday_07.html
