MechMan, I need an alt for my 2006 cadillac CTS. Getting to the alt is a b**ch and it doesn't have much room when you do get to it. I dont know if 300 amps will be enough for 7k watts rms though (around the same as im running). Do you have an opinion on this or is there a 400 model?

Ok, so I know this is gonna sound CRAZY to anyone that actually has any idea at all about car audio but, I am installing 1 12" FI BTL on an audioque 2200d amp. I am doing the big 3 with all 0 ga wiring, 1 kinetik 1800 as my main battery and 1 2400 for my sub... I told a friend this and he told me to "just use a power cap and 4 ga wire would be fine"! For a BTL!!! Am I crazy or am I right in thinking he is? I know power caps are basically uselees now days with the batteries you can get and 4 ga power and ground for a 2200k watt rms amp and a 2k watt FI BTL? Any opinions on this issue from the true car audio people?
