I emailed the editor of Truckin magazine almost the same question and here is the response: "Hi Chris, I used to work for a custom truck accessories company, and reviewed sponsorship requests. My best advice would be to check and see if they have a formal sponsorship process and procedure. A lot of companies will have a standard checklist of items they require for sponsorship consideration. Make sure your sponsorship packet has all those items at a MINIMUM. However, don’t overwhelm them with a 10-pound packet with every personal photo, magazine clipping etc. you’ve ever had. Make the presentation manageable and easy to read and review. If you do have some sample clippings, I’d suggest color copies rather than loose clippings or even black & white copies. Some copy places won’t duplicate copyrighted material. Look for a place that has self-serve color copiers. List pertinent show appearances, web coverage, magazine appearances, other sponsorships, trophies, awards, etc. Be selective. Choose items that BEST represent you and your truck. Don’t come across like you’re “begging.” You want to present yourself professionally, and in a way that conveys you’re offering the company an opportunity to sponsor you that would be their interest. Also, if the company initially offers you “good guy” or “cost plus 10” pricing, don’t completely shut them out. Thank them for their time and tell them you’ll get back to them. Companies have often been burned by lofty promises but no returns. Obviously, look for the companies that offer the most favorable terms for sponsorship, but don’t compromise on how you want your truck to turn out. If you want high-quality parts on your truck, be prepared to initially pay a little out-of-pocket. Down the road, the company may offer full sponsorship to you based on their positive initial experience with you. If you have any friends that are talented in video production and editing, maybe have them do a short 3-5 minute video on you and your truck. Make sure you use a wired or wireless microphone where your voice is clear. You can either post it on a community networking site, or burn it onto a DVD and send it with your packet. Try to develop a relationship with the companies you’re approaching for sponsorship. If at all possible, get a specific name of a contact person. Don’t E-mail or call them every day or even every week. Every other week would be appropriate, and end each message with “Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.” And give them your E-mail or phone number where they can reliably contact you, if needed. Be prompt in replying to them. Treat them like a client, because in essence, sponsorship is a business transaction. Once you’ve established some relationships with companies, ask them if you can list them as references for sponsorship when approaching other companies. Most will say yes, some will say no. Please respect the companies’ wishes either way. Finally, BE PATIENT! Successfully building a custom truck with sponsorship support can be a long process. But often the result of your patience and professionalism will prove well worth the wait. A positive, professional reputation will serve you far better in the long run than a reputation as a greedy pest that’s just trying to “scam” parts. Sure, you might accomplish the same goal with both methods, but if you leave unhappy, dissatisfied people in your wake, the bad reputation could come back to haunt you. Hope this helps, Edward A. Yea you have to have a portfolio together of all your shit you've done. Build logs, competition results, other sponsorships etc before half these mofos even glance at you.

i had a probox that went under the back bench seat of my ext. cab silverado that had 2 memphis 10s and they hit pretty good.

I talked to my dad and he talked me into coming back to the plant. I'm going to be going to night school also working towards becoming an equipment operator like my brother ($26 an hr ftw!). So I'm dropping down to 1 day a week at Circuit City as a salesman till I can get my Kicker and Eclipse orders in.

i don't know if one of my alts went out or what but if i'm beatin while idling the voltage will drop to 11 or lower. I've actually had the amp start cutting out recently while "idle bumping" so I think I need to get em checked. My whole thing is I'd rather go overboard than under with it. Not have to worry about electrical. Get it all taken care of you know.

yea the zx2500.1 seems to be suck juice like no other

shit i'm having major voltage drops running two 150 amp alts and a yellow top with about 2900 watts rms now.

So I'm getting my funding together and making a big ass price list of all the shit I will be ordering in the next few months. I had a few questions about electrical. I got my prices from Irragi on the alternators and I'm going with kinetik batteries. Which combos of alts/batteries would I need for a daily/spl/bassrace vehicle with 2 zx2500.1s and a zx850.4 so roughly 5850 watts rms. I was thinking 2 300 amp alts with a kinetik 1400 under hood and 3 kinetik 2400s for amp backup. What say you guys? I really need to get my plan wrapped up so I can start making orders. Also about how much 1/0 wire should I be getting my hands on. 100 ft 200ft? Estimate plz. THX! (and as always the faster I get my shit together the faster pics/vids come!)

I'm at the sales job right now working a bit over 30 hrs a week. I can't keep this job because it won't give me the money I need to pay for college. If I go to the plant for the summer I would be a maintance job with a guaranteed 40 hrs a week + constant overtime options. I really need to find out what the installer job will pay because my whole point would be to try and pay for school. I will however keep a circuit city job one day a week on weekends so I can make my orders this summer

I work at Circuit City as a technology salesman (computers, digital cameras, ipods, etc.) and I am pretty much holding down the department in volume and attachments even being just part time. In order to pay for school however I have to go back to the plant to work during the summer. So I told my manager I need to drop down to one day a week coming up very shortly. Today in the store meeting he informed me he was moving me to the Roadshop as an installer. Should I take this job for full time during the summer or should I go to the plant. Not sure what a Circuit City installer makes ($13 i think?) vs my 9.50 an hr as a salesman vs 16 at the plant. Of course the plant is a very labor intensive job. I'm very torn as to what I should do . . .

the kicker rep at the store i work at actually told me the optimal setup for ONE solo x 12 in sub was to put one zx2500.1 on each coil.

I remember that project my senior year of high school. It's really tough. Harder than you think. Especially when you wan to add so much. Best advice I could give is start now and don't wait to work on it. Me and my partner made a machine that had an electric conveyor belt that would scoop up golf balls and bring them to a self fixing catapult that would launch them into a basket bout 40 yds away. It was sweet, wish I took pics and made a vid.

with the price coming down so hard on em I'd go for it. We sell a gateway computer with the amd quad and 3 gb of ram in it for 650. Quads aren't that expensive anymore.

that's what everyone has been telling me. Go with interchangeable ports. I'm really not down with the idea myself. I'd rather have a box tuned for music that can put up decent numbers. My box I have now is at 40 hz and I love it. I don't have enough experience to know how much difference the extra 5 hz up will make. Of course I've never had 4 15s directly behind my head also either . . . .
