  1. ok, i chopped another box up and made a box but it ended up fitting but the surround was touching the back of the seat. dimensions of the box i built: 13" high 7.5" top 9" bottom didnt measure the length though because it is down pouring outside made a template with those dimensions and made a template of the sub also found that i could build a box smaller than the one i built with these dimensions 13" high 5.25" top 7.25" bottom 4' long found that with those dimensions the box is approximately 1.586 cubic feet sealed box according to powerbass should be .65 cubic feet so would this be a better alternative
  2. found this on youtube, any idea on how this would sound, would rather keep the 2 subs that i have.
  3. I have a 1991 dodge dakota single cab, therefor i have little to no room behind the seat. I have 2 powerbass XL-10D subs, i got them for $20 and they work amazing hooked up to my home stereo. I wanna build a box to put behind the seat to house the those 2 subs. i found dimension online for a box: outside dimensions: 13" high 3.5" top 7.75" bottom and i have about 4' of length so i designed the box in google sketch up and the internal dimensions end up being 11.5" high 2.25" top 5 15/16" bottom again 4" long i also went and drew the sub up in google sketch up and the mounting depth is too big/long. so my question is, i have dynamat 6260 that was already installed when i picked the truck up, on the back wall, can i build a box without a back and securely fasten it to the back of the truck. dont have a amp yet as i am on a tight budget, and have been looking around on craigslist for one. so can i use the back of the truck as the back of the box?
  4. I am looking to get some new subs but I am on a very tight budget. I was looking around online and wondered across these http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=269-090 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=269-087 I was thinkin the 12s since i already have a box that is to specs for those subs and could just drop them in. Any opinions on these and i know you get what you pay for but these seem to be decent subs
  5. yeah i left the stock charge wire on there and when the weather is good im gonna do the rest of the big 3.
  6. Ok I got a little time today and got the 0g on the alternator and tightned the bolt right down and it is working now on got the 1 cable on before it started to rain but am noticing a little more power.
  7. here is a pic of the back of the alternator i have. i was hooking the wire to the post inside the black boot.
  8. On black friday i decided i would do the big 3 since i had the stuff to do so. i have a 2000 caravan with the 3.3l v6, yeah i know it isnt that great of a vehicle but it has 184,xxx miles and no major problems ever, and it has a 90 amp stock alternator. i first ran the wire from the alternator to the battery which was 0g and i then checked to see if it would still start. it would not even after i unhooked it from the battery. so i completely removed it and it started right up fine with no problems. what i wanna know is what was i doing wrong or what is causing this. I am running a small system and am getting dimming. 2 pioneer ts-w304c, pioneer deh- 23ub, and a sony xplod amp. I know it is a cheap system but i am fine and it hits really good. i have 4g wire ran to the amp and ground right now.
  9. Yeah, Im gonna end ep needing a new alternator sooner or later but dont have the money to lay out for a 200+ amp so I'll probably just do the big 3 for now and check all my connections. I have plans in the future to put a better system in but just dont have the cash now to do so but I am happy with my setup for now. I normaly wouldn't mix the subs but they were given to me and the coustic amp was just sitting around so i decided to hook them up. I am a kicker or pioneer kind of guy so my future system is gonna be either of those subs. My alt is on the passenger side towards the back of the engine. i can see it fine but getting to it is a bitch.
  10. Well this aint no expensive system all decent stuff and it is under powered, but i still love it and it hits hard and loud. 2 12" pioneer ts-w304c: 600 Watts Max Music Power 300 Watts Nominal Power Handling Frequency Response: 18-2,000Hz Sensitivity (Efficiency): 89dB (1W/1m) 4ohm Rated sony xplod 1000 watt amp wired to pioneers 2 10" infinity 1020w Power Handling, RMS 250W Power Handling, Peak 1000W Sensitivity 90dB Frequency Response (±3dB) 22Hz - 800Hz Impedance 4 Ohms couistic 380 amplifier wired to the infinitys 0g wire from the battery to a distribution block inside the vehicle and 2 4g wires out, 1 to each amp, 100 amp fuse, 4g groung to the body in the back of the vehicle Pioneer deh-23ub headunit play decaf's zips most of the time have not done the big 3 or upgraded alternator or no second battery I am cheap and have gotten most of this stuff in trade deals so I am at the point now where i have a good system but major headlight dimming so i am going to have to sink some cash into this build not sure if the big 3 would help or not, I want to take care of this problem as cheaply as possible, rather not do an alternator because they are expensive, would rather add a second battery or even do the big 3, i can get a 130 amp replacement for a newer version of my vehicle but had teh same engine but it is $150 what ever would be the cheapest fix would be best, could upgrade to the 130 amp alt if i have to but would rather not as the alternator is a bitch to get to because the engine is mounted sideways i am a senior in high school and am not working, had a tech support job, worked for 6 months and absolutely hated it so quit, want to get another job to build a better system
  11. Ok, I might as well upgrade the alternator. But what amp output would be good. I can get a replacement at my local advanced auto that is 130 amp would that be enough or should i go bigger and if so how big?
  12. I just installed another amp and 2 more 10" subs(infinity ref1020w), before i put those in i had a little dimming at med to high volume levels but now it dims at medium to low levels. My vehicle comes stock with a 90 amp alt, can i just run 0g wire from the battery under the hood to a battery in the vehicle and the alt will charge both or should i get a better alt. I am on the cheaper side so i would rather get another battery than another alt as it will be a bitch to change because the engine is mounted sideways. Any help would be great.
  13. you could try at&t go phone i use that and pay $20 a month for unlimited texting. and i get great reception for being out in the country. also verizon has a month to month thing too
  14. Belaive it or not but walmart has a coupla and they are around $300 or a little more i know in my local one they have a pioneer 7" double din for a little more than $300 and they have a phase linear 7" flip out single din made by jensen, ive played with both and they seem to be good but i my self have not owned either because i am happy with my pioneer that i also got from walmart
  15. you should do more bill withers, i like what you did with those songs and i like him even more with the bass added
