Fire Dept. Lights
tacomabanga1986 replied to iceman1575's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
lol, is there a law stating that u can have to many lights on ur car? lol i was gunna be in teh fire/rescue type thing but never went threw with it but i was gunna cover my truck wit so many lights it would move traffic more than a fire truck, ied had a federal q siren with a carson siren to go with it, maby some air horns from horn blowers.com ied have full 360 degree visability but it would just be for me type thing tho i kno of a few sites u could find something if i was u ied start out as cheap and as small as i could, and u could prolly check local pawn shops to see if anyone pawned any of there stuff the older halogen dash lights will tend to be cheaper or higher than newer led lights due to how they dont make as many halogens as they did back a few yrs ago, leds will last longer and give u the ability to change different flash patterns to soot what will clear traffic the best, most halogens only give u a handfull of patterns and thats if ur lucky, like dash lights, u can get a single light with flashback shield, or get the 5flash mirrow to give it a better look and a more traffic clearing ability with a few color options to help and with leds they can be brighter than halogens and last longer too, theres all diff kinds of lights u can get but it depends on budget, tast, laws, and what knot heres the sites http://www.strobemax.com/products.html http://www.autodirectsave.com/Police-Strobe-EMS-C4.aspx WWW.CAMPSAFETYINC.COM im more into collecting vintage halogen lights, i had a few growing up as a kid but some broke or got lost so all i got now is my federal signal 184 power light becon with red dome and 4 bulbs, heres a video of one like the one i got just a hobbie of mine has been lights and what knot for about 20yrs lol and i still got a knack for it lol -
Changing the tuning by adding external port length.
tacomabanga1986 replied to Maticus's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
i changed my tuning by just inverting my subs, wit mag in box it was loud as hell with around 40 or so hertz music but inverted its the same loudness or louder with the lower 32-36range, i guess without motor displacement its a diff box anywho, dont changeing the port area affect tuening too or how well the box displaces air? cause mine is loud but doesnt push out air like i thought it would anyways hope u get it figured out -
haha, now do peal n seal, vs second skin and audio wrap i use this stuff http://www.findtape.com/shop/product.aspx?id=565&idx=4&tid=2&info=aluminum+foil&setscreen=1&width=1440&height=664 and have had great results with it with just 1 layer, i only did my doors tho and back sides of my extended cab and it made the sound more fuller than it was, still need to do my roof and what knot with it but just waiting on what im gunna acually put my system in lol just got a temp setup with a 15 in a ported box wit 1000w amp giveing it around 600rms and does good for what it is is there anything that will make the back glass in my truck quit rattling like it does? ive seen people do the tennis ball trick but dunno how well that will work for what i got anyways good shit bro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpizgtVNU40&feature=player_embedded ya, i wouldn't let my 1yr old watch this, but it just shows u what people do durring the day, might even help u figure out why the power shuts off or ur lights dim? -
u ever heard someone say go stick your dick in a light socket? this guy took it to heart http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpizgtVNU40&feature=related lemmie know if this is 18+ materiel or not

this is what i use, its not peal n seal, its commercial grade that u use on hvac systems http://www.findtape.com/product565/Nashua-360-45-Heavy-Duty-Foil-Mastic-Butyl-Rubber-Sealant-Tape.aspx?idx=4&tid=2&info=aluminum+foil i put 1 layer on my doors and 1 layer below back side windows where rear speakers are works wonders for me and stays on great too, has no smell, and easy to cut, i like it

gluing back sub surround
tacomabanga1986 replied to tacomabanga1986's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
ya that makes sence i did not recone em but the person i got em from they were referbished or w/e and they used some sort of yellow glue on the surround and if u gently tug on it it will come up all over the place so im just gunna fix whats not stuck i think i kinda fuked up cause i tried to fix it with elmers spray glue cause thats all i had and was impatioent to get it fixed but i got em inverted now and i dont get that noise like i did when they was in the box regular cause the air off the back of the speaker was pushing the surround up and makeing it flap and make a noise i guess if i get this surround problem fixed i dont have to invert em when i build my box, i mean they sound alot louder and better inverted than they did when they was regular even in the same box so i unno anyways i'll try n ca glue this thing sometime so i can have a decent system in my truck, i really want to port these things but i dunno how they will like it, but they hit hella lows, acually hit lows better than my 15's did and almost as loud as the 15's where with a smaller box since youve messed with diff subs in the past if this sub recomends 1cf each sub sealed, can i make a box to 1cf for each sub devided (i have better results with devided boxs), will it preform the same or close to it inverted as it would without the motor displacement? or sound i do a .5 or .75cf box for each sub and run it inverted to take place of the distplacement? i was gunna make it 1 box with 2 chambers but i might just make it high enough to run em inverted but keep it the 1cf so if i decide to change the way there in the box i got em in a prolly a 2.5cf sealed looks like prefab box with em inverted and they move some air pritty good for 10's but i dunno how the mechanical limits will work with them getting 500rms each cause i can get the excursion so that the dustcap is in line with teh top of the basket, i dunno how the hell they built these subs but soundstream ftmfw! lol i might get some t4 10's if these ever take a shit or something, power from the spiders ftw! lol -
gluing back sub surround
tacomabanga1986 replied to tacomabanga1986's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
if a sub is 500rms and i give it 500rms and it damn nere, well lets just say that the dust cap was inline of the top of the basket when i was free airing em so i guess either these subs are over rated or my amp does more power than i thought it did lol anyways thankx for the info, and whats the pros n cons of useing that glue vs ca glue cause i can get ca glue for the low and need to fix this asap so i can start on box -
gluing back sub surround
tacomabanga1986 replied to tacomabanga1986's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
oh ya, forgot, here go subs i got if it helps any when i invert em i take off the lil rubber ring piece thing http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5458_Soundstream+VGW-10.html i seen pics of a guy running 1 10 with 1000rms going to it ported and it took it and sounded killer so i wonder what these 2 in a nice box could sound, hell even with fuked up surrounds and in a shit prefab sealed box they still wanged like my 15's did just not as loud and they kill teh lows too, real good sql sub -
well i figured out why my sound streams sounded like they did, was playin wit em the other day and come to find out that my surrounds are comeing off, so i was wondering what kinda ca glue works best for rubber surrounds? i was gunna get a medium grade or something thick but what yall use? and how would i align the vc so it dont move back n forth? only about 1/4 of it came unglued but would it be better to reglue it all cause how tight of a gap it already has i dunno how good that will work and do i put glue on both the surround and basket or just one and sprat activator on other? ive used ca glue building stuff befor but not with speakers and what knot, well ya i have but i just reglued the cone back on my old mtx 6000 15 where the amp came off box and busted it when my cuzin had em, but anyways what would be a good way to fix this? they still have these subs as referbs but i dont really want to buy anymore, maby 4 of em in a build would wang but all i got is 2 and they seem to handle the 500rms im giveing them each but if i push it to hard i guess the vc hits the former and shorts itself out and throws the amp into protect, but it only does it on certian songs tho anyways its either fix these 10's and build a nice box for em or just throw one of my 15's in the truck oh and another question, if u run 2 subs inverted does keeping the polarity the same make a difference or will wiring them backward make em sound like they was in the box regular? cause these 10's love to be inverted and wang like hell but i dunno what specs to build the box to cause each sub in the box needs 1cf each sealed and does not recomend ported but that can change lol, i was thinking maby .5cf inverted or keep it 1cf and after i fix em run em inverted or throw em wit the mag in the box n see how they sound box will be a downfire box wit a amp rack on top of box the best i can build it, prolly be back lit wit my 12'' led strip but i dunno yet anyways preciate the feedback peoplez , oh and if it dont make any sence i can retype if need be, i aint got that good of language skillz so i do best as i can

for some reason, when i did the pods on my geo they had no midbass at all when they was sealed up but open into the doors it would sound awesome ied like to try a ported door pod but i dunno where to put the port this is how bose does some of there speakers and what knot so i dont think it will hurt anything hell my geos dash 3&1/2'' speakers have there own ported boxs lol would be a cool project tho

i just got some wire off kranny and it was hella fast shipping and good communication throughout the whole conversation and what knot all in all, will buy from/sell to anytime
-
with 4guage i would wire the sub(s) to the highest ohm load that u can till u get some 0guage, that might fix ur voltage problem with rockford amps they need power to make power, with that big of an amp, u dont want to see ur volts drop down to 11.xx, try to keep it to no lower than 12v if u can help it with car running

im going to clean my coils tommrow, its on a 4ton goodman, the outside coils are dirty as they can be, and this unit has not been serviced ever and its about 20yrs old give or take, the air handler is about 26ish yrs old i think its a interthrum or something like that i was wondering whats the odds of it freezing up due to me cleaning it and will it help out its efficency seer at all? i think the dirty coil is why the compressor went out on it, and then the fan took a shit or was just on its last leg so i replaced that today, i want to keep it running for as long as it can due to not enough money to replace it, if i can get some deals on some dect work and branch lines i want to work out some sort of branch line config that will work better to what we got, i might have to add a duct booster but prolly not, its a good heatpump just hasn't been takin care of and i never thought u would have to untill i took hvac lol i use foam and clean by ace, when i cleaned the 10ton outside units it would eat the skin off my fingers lol oh and can u help me clear this up, when in a/c mode the indoor unit is the condenser and outside the evaporator, and when in heat mode the indoor unit is the evaporator and the outside unit is the condenser? i keep getting this mixed up, and i never really got to the point of trouble shooting txv's and what knot

i guess just tips n tricks i guess, im going into level 4 monday and its my last level n have not really had any experance with recovery and charging i was wondering how to tell on the guages to kno of a system has enough charge or not i was going to try to do it for an on the side job till i get enough experance to work for a company, im on unemployment right now and that ends in december so i need to work up something to get me some money rolling in, im looking to do service work like cleaning coils, change out bad parts and what knot i dont kno much about oil fernaces but the guy i got my stuff from said he will sell me some more stuff come winter oh ya, i got a yellow jacket refrigerant dector that does all types of refrigerants, i got one hell of a deal on about $6,000 worth of equitment

I was wondering if they was any HVAC service techs on here other than me thought we could trade stories or tips or what knot im going to collage to be a hvac service technician/welder fabricator i already have a heavy duty vacuum pump, recovery machine, refrigerant scales, 1 set of r22,134a,410a commercial gauges w/ sight glass, r22, 134a gauges both yellow jacket, 2 30LB(but has 28LB's in it) of r22, a 30LB recovery tank, outdoor fan removal tool (also does squirrel cages), a tool to remove a shrader valve without losing pressure and change valves, a hand held refrigerant temp chart, a hand held humidity checker i guess u would call it, 3 acetylene tanks for brazing, a self ignite brazing torch, and a hand held ratchet that shuts the valves in the refrigerant inlet connection so if u have to take out and change/clean a A-coil u can shut it off to keep all the freon in the compressor and do work inside the house i was wondering if anyone else has experience with hvac that could share on how to use some of these things better or what knot, i got a friend that has done this for over 20yrs that can help me with it but would like others input what i have done so far was in class room like, change compressor, just got done changing our outdoor fan motor due to barring issues, rewired a rheem, carrier, goodman, and york inclass work, cleaned 2 10ton commercial rheem heat pumps, and a lil bit of duct work so far, moved around a few air handlers in class and hooked em up other than that whats yall input i guess

my soundstream 10's sound better inverted than regular, dunno why tho and thats prolly why my mtx 8000 15 hit lows better inverted than regular
