Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D v.3
timma100 replied to BassMunky's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
Wait wait wait wait will the 2500Dv.2 have it as well? O_O I was under the impression the new amp line didnt have the clipping light. Im crazy happy right now. ( saves woofers from dirty songs) -
This^^^^. Also when you say SD amps I think of soundigital. SA is what people use to abreviate Sundown audio Edited cuz your totally right about SD lol.. But I tune for every song, and get close to the clipping point, but im sure im over on most songs.. I know the lights arnt perfect, but they give you a rough estimate

It kinda sucks, I adjust my gain at the start of every song, I can feel (and hear of coarse) when the amp gets into the power phase of the DB level. But I can turn the gain knob up more and still get huge output increases, even though its distorted But having the subs in the trunk makes the distortion hard to hear.

So I guess this question is directed at Jacob mostly, I love, LOVE SA amps, style, support, and doing way over rated cleanly. But there is a feature that I and many MANY others would love to see. That's a clipping indicator light on the gain remotes for the amps.. I'll be honest i'm not sure how much of a complex feature this is to integrate, but it would be such a huge help... Do you have any plans to add this? I was really hoping to see it on the 2012 refresh, and grab a 2500V.2 or a 3500v.2.. But it appears that my hopes are crushed Just wanted to add this, I know the lights arnt perfect, but setting to a single DB level and playing different types of music isn't perfect either... The least retarded option is a clipping light..

This is where DC Amps shine, clipping light on the gain remote, most useful invention.... ever this was a huge selling point to me The clipping indecator feature is something that must be built into the amp itself.. Sadly you can just buy a remote with a clipping light and have that feature I wasn't aware DD amps had this.. Really raises the questions why SD amps don't :\

The DD1 is a great tool, but here is the question I have.. The test track is at -5DB, now thats fine and dandy, but the problem comes in when the majority of music has different bass DB levels.. Its still VERY ease to clip your amp and wreck some woofers even with a properly tuned system if you play a song with a higher DB level then the system was tuned for. Here is an example, i'm tuned for -5DB (perfect for decaf stuff) But if ANY song by bill-e comes on -3DB ~ 0DB bass lines, you're clipping hard. Even some rap has -3DB ~ -2DB bass tracks. (Project Pat does this more often then not) On the other side of the spectrum you get songs with great bass lines that are below the -5DB, (-7 ~ -8DB) and your amp isn't doing near normal output. Basically this has left be to tune each song as it comes on, I have a Sundown amp so I don't have a clipping light on my remote so I know i'm clipping a little.. I just wish there was a simple answer to all this Any ideas?? Thanks!!

SAZ 1500d question
timma100 replied to JZeFF's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
I own a V1 with SAZ-1500D painted on the top and bottom, the key external difference is the fusing. If it has fuses its a V1 if not, its a V2. They are really efficient clean amps, considering strapping them? -
What kind of space do you want to be taken up by the 8s? Also the SD series is a shallow mount so you could grab SD8's and maybe find custom made (sealed) boxes that can take the place of the side panels in the trunk. The SA series is a good combo of SQ and SPL IMHO, I own two SA12's that sound very nice.

I know its very unlikely that someone will sell there DD1. But I thought I should post this anyway, if you have one your willing to part with please leave a reply or a PM with pricing. Thank you very much!

I have talked about this a little before, the SPL coils can take a tun of power. A single 1500D (current setup) doesn't even reach recommended RMS for the pair I have. So, should I go for a second saz 1500 or should I just sell the one I have and buy a 3500D (when the 2012 models come out) I have D4 Coils in the subs so my strapped wiring options will take the amps out of warranty (1ohm total .5 each) But because they are v.1 models if they blow I would need to pay to have them repaired anyway. Even if I build a nice battery bank... Would I need a HO alt for 2 1500s? What do you think?

My brother owns an S10 Extended cab, (not quad cab) so hes got a very limited space to work with. Could anyone give me ported / sealed box 3^? Luckily for me he already hates cheap *** brands (specifically boss audio) because he knows they are trash. Anyone know a ~100-150 dollar amp that will do clean 400 ~ 500 RMS (not over rated) at 1ohm or 4ohm? E series only comes in D2s. If you have any suggestions its greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Information on SA-12X Cones?
timma100 replied to timma100's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
wow no way, I have a pair in a 34Hz tuned box, the box was made for the copper coil cone. Does the SPL coil change the sub enough to make a re-cone or re-tune necessary? btw Thanks for that info Jacob The SPL coil is about half the mass -- so it raises FS a good bit. Are the specs for the SPL coils posted anywhere? Id like to know the FS so I can get tune inserts that are dead on.. btw thanks a lot Jacob -
you really think the v.3 could take 7K RMS?... somehow.. that feels like a bad idea SA 15 took over 6k on few burps nightshade will take it, I assume, if you put in in the right now and have a great electrical support.....not 2 d3400 But 7kw for daily..(personally I wouldn't do it) and the 2 D34s are if i run 4ohm, if I wire for 2, its going to be 4 d34s (maybe 2 alts) and if..for some reason I ever.. EVER drop to 1ohm.. 8 D34s, and at least 3 200+ amp mech alts.. The NS1 prototype pulled 600 AMPS at 1ohm. While it is the most efficient amp I have ever seen. It can pull a crap load of amperage Then what's the point of getting NS-1? Yeah, but I know what i'm getting into if I drop that low
