  1. i'm amazed beyond belife how it sounds... i'm in college and I have to go for a drive every few hours just to keep from being depressed... becaues it sounds so damn good, i can't get enough. I swear to god, this is the best SQ system i've ever heard in my life, and it's loud as piss!!! It is just as sharp as a sealed setup I paid $230 for amp, $230 for sub, and $100 for box materials(ports cost $50 alone). $560 for this!?!??? $560 won't even buy you a cheap system at best buy nowdays
  2. this setup is absolutly amazing.... it outpounds my 2 12" L7's i had last summer.... It only has a 1206d on it, but it still pounds like nonne other. I ran 12 gauge wire straight to the sub, elimiating speaker terminals! THis setup hits really crisp and it pounds out the lows like no system i've ever heard (tuned to 33 hz). I never thought an L7 ported would be the best SQ setup i've ever heard.
  3. we havn't had a temp above zero here in MN in about 2 weeks. It was -17 with a -45 windhcill the other day. It's so hard to work on my car, my deck even started having a hard time reading cds it was so cold??? haha
  4. i'm not even gonna ask why you would put 224 per sub with 15's and not just put it all on one sub. or how you could not even hit 140 with that setup. I hit 139.5 with a $80 memphis pr 15 and an $60 jensen amp (200w) I agree , i can tell by looking at it that it wants to be ported. too bad i don't have my tools up here to build one
  5. no it just sucks, in the box at least.... or maybe i've been listening to so much bass in my years that weak bass doesn't register. I had it turned up and i could finnally hear some decent bass , but I could smell the VC cookin, so i let off..... i'm gonna just set it aside and not use it, no bass is better than crappy bass
  6. well, i put on some bring it back by dj unk and it puts out some bass , but when i'm on like rock music i can't hear any at all. I guess type r's just really suck, i have a feeling if i cut some holes on the side and threw on the appropriate length persicion ports, it would slam. I'm ordering my first of two 15" L7 when my tax check comes back and kicker never lets me down :gun:
  7. liquid nails construction: projects is amazing, gets extremely hard but does not expand. I've never used gorilla glue , but i can tell you that this liquid nails would be hard to beat. Obviously I just use it as a sealer, although it adds strength, i use screws and wood glue to hold together primarily
  8. got the 1206 mono, it has two + and two -, but inside the amp they are just connnected together, so it's not like it matters which one i hooked it up to. It's cleanly wired parelell on back of sub... very unlikely but one of the vc's might have come undone??? too bad i'm in college and don't have a screw gun within 100 miles of me. didn't use a terminal, straight wire caulked, coming out of box, so nothing coulda fallen off inside box.
  9. :gun: Ok, i was running some sealed cvr 12's off my hifonics 1206d and it was knockin pretty nice, prolly 138dB or so, (they were dual 2's - so 800 watts from amp) Now I sold them and put in a type R 12 ,(temporary setup) in a 1 cube sealed q-logic box. The type r is dual 2 ohm so i wired parellel so i'm getting 1200 watts from amp (or 1000 since it's overated, but anyways...) PROBLEM IS, no bass!!!! I started with gain all the way down and i got it up to about 1/4 and the sub is moving real nice, i wouldn't wanna push it any more, but up in the driver's seat there is like almost no bass... a 10" dual could outpound what i'm hearing.... It sounds just like 2 subs out of phase sound like, except i only have one sub, so it doesn't matter which way it is moving.... - there is only an inch or so clearance from back of sub to back of box, could that be the problem? - would one of the vc's coming undone in back of sub casue this? -or does type-r just totally suck??? I've ran them ported before in cars adn they sound decent so idk
  10. :gun: do all you guys use this software??? I alwasy use winISD beta or manafact. specs and i'm almost never too happy with winISD. I went to the website and this software looks like the real deal. they even take into account the ressonance of different car sizes!!!
  11. i'd say 1000-1400 watts is a good range, I would never really want to underpower them. Only reason so many ppl blow them is cause they use the gain as a volume knob
  12. anyone here actually seen a bench test of one of them?? i thought the were only like 10% off their rating, 300 watts off seems kinda rough. Not a huge deal, because my electrical system can't handle 2400 pure watts very well... Seems like a crime to underpower a 15" L7, maybe i'll have to step it up to 1600's someday
  13. oh, ok, i'll be fine with whatever i hit then - I did hit 146.6 with a couple of the 12" L7 and a hifonics 1606d, this should be quite a bit louder Any suggestions on design, based on my sketch though???????????? Is the crx style a good idea
  14. i'll probably end up going aroudn that same frequency and box size. Any idea what kinda numbers you were hittin??? I wanna be pushin 150 ... i think that is a reasonable goal (although 35. hz .is kinda low for 150, but i'd rather have good SQ than tune it high just for comps)
  15. and the reason i got the 6.5" in there is for tailgating
  16. In the link is a sketch of a possible idea. I'm looking for something that will put up some good numbers (beat pretty much any other person with 2 15" L7 in my area). I would like it to be good for a daily driver, so no walls or anything, just something similar to sketch. I will be using two 2006 L7 15's each one will have a hifonics 1206d zero gauge stinger wire, yellow top, big three, stock alt for now i'm planning on a crx style with 4 areo ports, i may use 6 if i have to to get the right port size I want some advice on how big the box should be or how much port area i need idk how to post a picture, so here's a link to it http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show...482_25_full.jpg] aaaaaaaaa.jpg_thumb
  17. i'm not saying the subs are bad, but the surrounds are so thick, there is hardly any SD.... I have used a few storm amps, i think they are pretty nice for the price.
  18. really??? that's good to know, i tried calling maxxsonic to ask that questin but i couldn't get through to a tech person
  19. if you want the best bang for the buck, go with a hifonics bx2006d. They will put out just under 2000 watts and cost about $350 or less!!! they are very solid amps, maybe not up to par with US amps, but they are still good
  20. the older hifonics amps were overrated about 15% , but i've heard rumors the new 2006 amps are much more closely rated. Wheather they are closely rated or not, they are solid amps that have never let me down, i have installed about 5 of these on my friends cars and i have competed with 2 of them for over a year and not one of my customers or I have had even the slightest problem with them, they are awsome for the price
  21. if you want a real solid amp for about $325 chekc out a hifoincs 2006d , they have good deals on them at woofersetc.com and onlinecarstereo.com
