yup! I was so close to gluing and screwing it in today but it started raining so I didn't! glad that happened now! lol. But I'm hoping to have it done by this weekend and I'll for sure post some pics of the outcome. I will most likely do that wall. Also, anyone have any ideas what kind of numbers I should put up with it walled?

I've got an idea. Would I be better off flipping the box upside down and facing it forward as a wall. Port on top. Then recut the top where the holes are which would now be the bottom piece and put subs below port. Then wall it in. That way I'd have plenty of room and not have to rebuild the box. and the wood is 2 layers of .75 all the way around. including port.

ya it was lol. it sucked. but I'm pretty disappointed how it turned out. But hey it was my first big build so u live and learn I guess. I will try out your build. I think I will like it better. So your saying keep it subs up/ port back? and also everyone says 6.5 to 7 cubes/sub thats why i built it so big.

Ok, so i finally got my box finished and the subs are going in tomorrow. When I built the box, I guess I didn't realize how much of my airspace in the back it will take up. The subs are firing up and only have about 2" of clearance to the roof. So my question is, am I losing sound and spl by the box taking up most of the back? It seems like I'll be suffocating the sound since there isn't much space for the air to travel. I wish now that I would've just built a wall but it's too late to turn back now. Any help is appreciated! box dimesions as follows: 34.5" tall 46" wide 26" deep 1.5" thick wood port 31.5" wide x 17" deep x 7.5" tall it's around 14 net cubes. 2 aq hdc3 18's off a crescendo 3500 picture:

Whats the best 12"-13" Sub for 4th order bandpass
IndianaBassHead replied to Rich65's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
How much airspace and mounting depth are you working with? -
which double din would be best for me?
IndianaBassHead replied to beenen's topic in Head Units-Processors and Eq's
Although it doesn't have an ad card slot, I would recommend the clarion vx401. It is a great unit with iPod integration. That's what I run and I've never owned a better double din. -

Box design for 2 AQ HDC3 18's subs up/port back
IndianaBassHead replied to IndianaBassHead's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Ya normally I wouldn't tune my boxes this high but from what I've read, the aq's like it. But I'm assuming nobody sees any problems with this box design? -
Good afternoon everybody! I finally decided what subs I'm going to run in my tahoe and I'm just getting some input on the box I designed for my new subs. They will be here wednesday .It will be a subs up/port back and it's going in a 2003 tahoe. The one question I have is, is it ok just to do a regular L-port on the drivers side facing the hatch with the subs centered on top? Will this be my best build? Here are the box specs: http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z477/dmart1501/boxdesign.jpg[/img]"]http://

RE SXX 12 bottoming out?
IndianaBassHead replied to IndianaBassHead's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Just remembered this post. The problem was running the two different amps together. I called arc and they swapped the ks1200 for a brand new hand built ks 1000 bx! Two thumbs way up to brad at arc audio!!! They treat there customers right! -
Low Bass sounds awful, how to hold sub box down
IndianaBassHead replied to IndianaBassHead's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures

Low Bass sounds awful, how to hold sub box down
IndianaBassHead replied to IndianaBassHead's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
thanks a lot jrchevy! i will definitely try that. gotta figure out a way to get under the box first though. and I will measure the port orionstang but at the moment the car is locked up in the garage and I'm inside about to fall asleep lol. Thanks for all the help though everybody. I guess i never really realized how much of a difference carpet makes on the box. I also thought about using some of that spray foam that hardens when it dries (can't remember what it's called) and spraying it all under the box to hold it down and reduce noise. You guys think that would work? -

and also, greg from re audio designed the box for me so I don't think that's the problem. Right now I'm assuming it's from the box jumping and not much room from the box to the hatch it bounces off of.
