  1. Yeah its a tight fit doing 3 but possible. Couple people have done it before.
  2. K so I'm just gonna run everything by you guys to double check. I should be set to start building next weekend! Subs: 3 AudioQue hdc4 18's Amps: 3 AudioQue 3500's @ .5 ohms Enclosure: 18 cubes after displacement, 324 sq inches of port @ 30hz tuning. Electrical: 3 320 amp alternators and 6 xs power d3100's. Gonna start the build log next Friday building the box but the subs and amps wont be here for another month or so. It will be a slow build log but oh well. I only make so much money lol.
  3. How many systems have you done before? I truly hope you're not planning on jumping into a 5Kw system as your first. Electrical upgrades must be considered. And tuning to Fs is dangerous if you don't know what the you're doing. I'm NOT being a jerk, so please don't misunderstand me, but the questions you're asking here tells me you don't yet know enough to tackle a build like this. Tuning to Fs runs the risk of having the coil jump the gap. Good way to destroy a nice sub. It's ok not to know everything, but please read and read and read. You'll get this. Yeah man i was just messin around lol. But yeah, i probably dont have enough knowledge for a build like this but im sure i got everything covered. How hard can walling 2 18's be? After seeing all the wall builds, not that hard. Now that i have the port area number of 17sq in/cubic foot, i got everything done. Now its time to build and either blow something up, or have a good system.
  4. Ok way off topic but i just realized what fs was. So if i like lows, the lower the fs is on a sub the better the lows play from what i can see. So the hdc3 18's are lower than the hdc4's so if i get a hdc3 18 and tune the box to its fs, it should get loud at 31hz is what im seeing. This is all eye opening.
  5. Thanks fellas. Now what about port area? Is there an abbreviation from manufacture recommendations? I dont understand all these 2 letter abbreviations.
  6. 4 12s is roughly 380sq in 2 18s is roughly 440sq in (these are by using pi*r^2 and with the cutout diameter) God man its hard for me to even think about that clearly lol. But ok if 2 18's has more cone area then thats what i shall go with.
  7. 2 18's really has more cone area?! Man thats a brain teaser then lol. Its the AudioQue HDC4's btw.
  8. Hey fellas. So i started thinking about my next build. When i was thinking about what size subwoofers to put in i realized i could fit 2 18's or 4 12's with ease. Now if i do the 4 12's, ill have more cone area so i figured that would be louder right? Also, can someone give me a rundown of port area to box volume? Isnt it something like 12-15 inches squared for porting to every 1 cubic feet of box volume?
  9. Hey bud i got a v6 mustang too. Its an 01 so same style. Honestly, why do you want it insanely loud? I love the sounds of exhaust as much as the other gear heads but you need quality loud sounds. Running straight pipes on the V6's sound like crap. I tried it out before attaching my muffler on it and it was horrid. I got a thrush muffler from o'rileys for like 60 bucks and it sounds wonderful. Funny enough, it was just as loud as the straight pipe but it was a lot cleaner sounding. I would suggest getting some headers (that should help with performance too but remember, if you get long tube headers you will need to tune your car), run a dual exhaust with a H pipe, and 2 magnaflow or thrush mufflers. Thrush ,btw, is an off brand of magnaflow. As for performance, ive heard that tuning the v6's and adding a cold air will help a lot when you pair it with those headers. Just remember, your intake is only as good as your exhaust. I also upgraded my electrical with a Screamin Demon ignition coil, MSD wires, and some good ole NGK platinum spark plugs and i even felt the difference with that. All for about $120. Not too shabby! I would recommend looking at Americanmuscle.com. They have all the things you would need for your mustang and for a great price too. Thats where i bought all my stuff from, minus the muffler. If you got everything tuned, headers, intake, and ignition, you would be happy with the results for sure. P.S. Take this in mind, its only a rumor/theory, but if you have your exhaust too short and run straight pipes, you could burn up your valves. Cars need some back pressure. From my hours of research i put into that matter, it has all come back as a theory. No real facts about it but would you wanna risk it? Lol. Hope this helps man. =)
  10. Hey fellas got another question for ya. Well im gonna start building the wall soon and im thinking about tuning it to 25hz or so. Im not really looking for a SPL setup, just a ground pounder. I like songs like stickem and rack city. You know, those really low notes that bring a smile to your face. So at 25hz tuning on a wall, that should be good for lows correct? I was thinking 30hz but i saw a wall tuned to mid 20's and the lows were just insane! Heres subs and amps. 3 AQ3500's 3 AQ HDC4 18's Box should be around 17 cubic feet or so before bracing and subwoofer displacement. Does this sound good or should i tune it higher? Remember, i want a ground pounder, not a SPL setup.
  11. Ok, well ill do both, 1> Tune it to -5 which i had before but when i changed my head unit i tuned it to -10, and 2. look at WMP and audacity. Forgot Audacity does that.
  12. Not too sure how to check if a song has clipping. Dont have a clipping led on my knob.
  13. Went down to the store just now and my woofers started stinking. Everything is clear as far as tuning with the DD-1 @ -10db's. Im wondering if some of my lower quality music(192 bitrate) could cause distortion VS a song at 320 bitrate.
  14. Not much other than little 2kw installs TBH. Done lots of research but i understand that research and doing are 2 different things. And yeah, i am going to build a wall with 1 aq3500 then start adding to it slowly. Sorry for the confusion, didnt mean to say "Im gonna buy 4 amps all at one time and install them", just meant when its all said and done, i want to have 4. But since i have decided to wall the stang, it will only have 3 3500's, not 4. So Realistically powering 3 wouldnt be too hard. Lets hope Dom can pull out some awesome alternator bracket making skills here. Wont be easy making a dual alternator bracket let alone the 3-4 alternator bracket i truly want.
  15. because if you go too big and miss a small step, you could end up with a big disaster. just quadruple check that you have ALL corners covered Sounds good. I mean i have been planning this build for about 3 weeks straight now. Research after research after research. Honestly there is only 1 thing that will be an obstacle in this build and thats being able to power it all. Iraggi is willing to build me a dual alternator bracket for my car since no other place has them but even then, i will only be able to constantly power 2 of the 4 amps. Guess thats where lots of batteries come into place but eh, i wanna be able to power it at all times. Then again with as much as i am going to overpower the subs, i wont really be able to play them 24/7 at full power without frying one thing or another lol. Thats where good ole remote knobs come in =).
  16. Why does everyone say that! Lol. If I told you I have, I would be lying. Why not "go big or go home"? I cant stick with lousy 2k systems forever. Its time to step it up a notch. Ok well i guess in this case it would be skipping a bunch of notches. Im tired of spending money on systems that i don't like. I want one that i will be happy with and stick to it.
  17. Well im gonna be getting 4 of them so..... xD
