distortion happens before clipping. Clipping is when the top and bottom of the signal wave is cut due to the amplifiers gain set too high. It is possible to do this and not have a high distortion output from the amplifier.

Bridge a powerful 2-channel amp. The DD S2b is rated at 1600 bridged @ 4 ohms and 2700 @ 2 ohms. http://www.ddaudio.com/products/mobile-audio/amplifiers/full-range-amplifiers/s-series/s2b.aspx Anything high end at around 400w x 2 should bridge to around 1500 watts. It's going to be very costly on your electrical though, as most of these types of amps are class AB.

I have one I picked up in 1991 that has never been used and is still in it's factory box. I loved Stillwater Designs in the early 90's.
