Too small for her hole?
SlamminSL1 replied to Tim Lam's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
for some reason i dont like any of your advice for this guy...... you have good intentions i believe ...... but i think you may be slightly uneducated about electrical.... not tryin to be a dick or bash you at all cuz i have alot to learn also..... but im pretty sure he would be fine on a small run of 4 gauge as long as his ground wire is short too.... and yes i would fuse after the dist. block also with a 100 amp fuse..... you will normally smell your wire getting hot before it goes up in flames.... ( i did it a LOOOONG time ago b4 i knew anything) unless its in a trunk. definitly keep your eye on voltage cuz voltage drop will be your worst enemy i would think...... just my 2 cents SlamminSL1....again not tryin to stab at you just sayin what i think from your posts.... where you located in ct? im in west hartford It's not his fusing that I'd be concerned about, it's the distroblock. More than a few instances I've seen people come into the shop with melted blocks and blown amps because their bass shakes the studs loose. They didn't have the power OP has so can you imagine what some real subs in a good box will do? Once he throws the fuses in he'll be good to go as far as safety is concerned but why not just skip all that hassle and throw in an extra battery and reap the benefits of that?Shit it'll even save you the hassle of ripping it all apart when you do eventually get the extra battery that you want. -

I think people have missed my point, and I apologize for not being clear. All I guess I'm trying to say is, why isn't the real issue being addressed that OP is running a single run of 0ga, which yes, is absolutely suitable for the amount of amperage he will use with music OR burps, but he's running his amplifiers off probably a generic distro with allen studs. Non fused to top it all off... People should be telling him to ditch the distroblock and throw in a battery and some fuses first. -
Another happy customer.

Anytime broski. For real though man, search Google for a 2011 Silverado lowering kit. http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/eibach_drag-launch_lowering_kit/eiblo38406/eibache2738110530frontandrear.aspx?scid=SG010000-st11chevroletsilverado150020072011eibache2738110530768436lokiei&origin=pla&ST_SRC=PPC&gclid=CN30_PiA1LECFUff4AodjigAxA There's one. Not to be rude, but, what kind of job do you have where you can afford a beautiful 2011 Silverado but you're too inept to search Google.

Too small for her hole?
SlamminSL1 replied to Tim Lam's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Hey, I'm not going to start busting out calculations to prove to you that it isn't smart to run two powerful amps off of one run of 0. It's common sense that you don't do shit like that. Would you try to run your whole house off of one outlet and one extension cord? No, because it's ridiculous. Shit, now try to run your whole house off of one fuse, might as well huh? -

I understand what he's running. I also understand that he's running two amplifiers on one distroblock with no fuses after it. What I don't understand is why yall are telling him that he should totally install his expensive amplifier on inadequate wiring. -

You're not running two amplifiers off the same run of 0 like the OP. -

I feel you, and it can be done. But is it safe and will it provide optimal power? Hell no. -

Since when did waking up in the morning and doing your job equate to you being GOOD at your job? Doesn't matter how many tours he did with crap lyrics and crap flow, it's still crap. -

I would rather run a fuse in between 4ga than no fuse at all on some 0ga.Seems like a lot of yall love to play with fire... -

No problem. Its no fun burning out gear, and it's really no fun when it's a simple mistake. -

I'm only suggesting you run a smaller fuse so your car doesn't go up in flames as you try to give it all its got. -

I would fuse it a little smaller just because. -

That's not too good. I'd invest in some wire and fuses if I where you man.And another battery. please explain why you think this is no good? Because you're running two amplifiers off of one run of 0ga. The Crescendo is going to pull serious amperage alone and you have another amplifier pulling some power at the same time. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but I'd rather be motherfucking safe than motherfucking sorry, especially when dealing with a nice amplifier like the 2K.Riddle me this; Is your distribution block fused? i'ev actually read numerous people who have owned the bc2k say it is extremely efficient on power, but neverless it is a 2k amp. and the distribution block itself isnt fused, just the 200amp fuse by the battery in the front. Yeah then I definitely wouldn't install that amplifier until you have the necessary wiring and fuses. -

uhh,,, not even a foot, maybe 10 inches? That's fine then, I'd run a fuse in the middle just for extra security.
