  1. Anybody ever heard of these guys? Supposed to be some Italian company, the guys down at my local audio shop just started carrying them. They're solidly priced and they sound great, heard a demo. Opinions, experiences?
  2. Who else here has used Hertz or Audison products? [sharedmedia=garage:vehicles:3102]
  3. This build is expected to move slow. My plans for this build are to keep it small with a little bump and some clarity, but do it right and keep it clean. I want every thing done in a way that I can easily return the vehicle to factory stock. My thoughts on equipment Items I have Head unit - Alpine CDA-9887 http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cda-9887/ Subwoofers - 2 x Massive Summo 64 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_74658_Massive-Audio-SUMMO-64.html vehicle deadening - KnuKonceptz Kno Knoise Sound Deadening Door Kit 14sq ft 80mil http://www.knukonceptz.com/mobile-audio/sound-deadening/kno-knoise-resonance-control/sp/kno-knoise-resonance-control-2-door-kit-14sq-ft/ Rockford Fosgate T400.4 http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/t400-4 Items that I still need to work on acquiring Sub Amp - Undecided but I know it will be Rockford. Either a P300-1 or one of those new PBR500X1 they bothe do 300 rms @ 2ohm The Box - Still undecided on the design but have been sketching up a few ideas. Speaker wiring - I will be on the look out for some 12 gauge OFC Power and Ground - Although overkill I will be saving for the Rockford Fosgate RFK1D DUAL AMP 1/0 AWG Amplifier WIRING KIT Door Speakers - Still debating a nice set of components for the front doors. Kick panels - Wanting to do a Mid bass driver in one of those Q-form kick panels that they already make for the F-150 Still trying to recover financially from my wife's trimalleolar fracture on her left leg. Thankfully she did heal well and is back to work now. That being said I have been collecting a little here and a little there when ever I had some spare change. Now on with the build and a few pictures. 2004 F-150 Crew cab (toreador red) This truck was equipped with the factory subwoofer under the rear seats. You will also see that I got the really nice floor mats to protect the carpet . And the very first and only thing I have done so far is change out the factory radio for an Alpine CDA-9887.
  4. So it mught still be a month or so until i really get a chance to start because i need to find a place to do it and my garage is too small and isnt heated but i figure id start the thread now and show you all whats going in there
  5. I am a noob at car audio i originaly wated to put subs in my car just to have a little boom but now i have taken it as hobby. I am constantly researching Subwoofers, Amps, Boxes trying to educate myself about the car audio field, so my car dont go up in smoke like my last car(Audi A6). I recently had 2 10's in a ported box(MTX Magnum Bass Package). They were pretty good for 10's but i currently have upgraded to 2 12's (Hifonics HFX12D4) each sub wired down to 2Ohm with a 2 Channel Mosfet Amplifier(Lanzar HTG257) with each sub getting 650wrms at 2Ohms. It Beats but im thinking of porting my box. My first Question would be: 1.) If i port my sealed box with PVC pipe is that a good idea? 2.) Which type port is better Slotted Port or Round PVC Port? 3.) If i do a PVC port a dude on youtube used a tool like this- and i wanna know can you use this tool with a drill like this- ? 4.) I saw some videos on youtube of boxes ported to like 28Hz and i was wandering if its tuned that low can you play regular music and it still hit LOW? 5.) will i have to alter my music in a audio program if i do tune my box to 28Hz? 6.) Is it the lower the Hz the more air its moves , the more Flexxx it does , the harder it hits? 7.) I have seen some huge boxes like 6cubes just for one sub do i have to have a box that big?
  6. My build in 2005-10 suzuki swift started last year from a humble stock stereo with a cheap rockmars 4 channel amplifier driving 311s4 pioneer in a ported 45hz box and 4 kenwood 718 coaxials(6x9) on the rear parcel shelf with stock 4 speakers 1 for each door. Started upgrading gradually Added Sony xmn1004 amplifier and ran jbl609c components in front doors on it in addition to previously mentioned items.Disconnected rear door stock speakers. Polyfilled the bass tube and tuning dropped to abt 37hz Moved on to swapping the cheap rockmars amp And added a separate amp for sub.this being a korean ads clone 1500.1 The pioneer sub didnt run well So swapped it for a jbl gt5 12D Added another jbl gt5 12 d in a new ported box tuned to 34.5hz Swapped th 12d subs for gt5 12s Removed th 4 kenwood 718 and added a pair of pioneer 6975v2 on rear parcel shelf Added hertz 170 comps in rear doors Upgraded head unit to pioneer 7450sd Upgraded wiring of setup Did big 3 with 0 gauge CCA sound quest with a 150 amp fuse Brought 0 gauge into the boot of my hatch back and put a stinger distribution block Added a 4 channel pioneer class d amplifier in boot of my vehicle Running 3 amp off a stock alternator Upgraded monoblock to soundstream rfm700.1 Removed rear class d amplifier Added hertz 165 mids only on top of bass tube as the system needed some warmth Added a 2 farad capacitor Upgraded RCA of monoblock to stinger 8000 series Other 2 rca are of soundquest Upgraded xmn1004 to class d pioneer 9604 During th process of upgrading i sound deadened 4 doors and boot of my car with stinger roadkill expert and added a voltmeter to my dashboard to keep an eye on voltage Finally upgraded head unit to pioneer 80 prs. Hence completing my build
  7. Starting over here. Old build log was getting long and mixed up so I'm starting fresh here. Going to be making some changes this year again. It won't be a fast build log. Taking my sweet time and going to try and act like I know what I'm doing this time around. Or atleast post the pics so it looks like i know, Ha. Here's the list of equipment I know will be in the car and I have already. DC Power 270XP XS D3400 up front XS D2400 in back Pioneer 80prs HU for processing Hertz Mille ML280 tweets Two sets of Hertz High Energy XL mids SMD VU-DIN SMD volt meter when ever they become available And that is all I know for sure. Plan to do a complete center console as well. Looking to put 3-5k of power to subs and a matching brand 4channel. Throwing around idea of 4 10s in a 4th order, 2 12s in a 6th order, two 15s ported, or a tunnel of something and hope for the best. Looking into Ascendant Audio, Fi, or DC I think but no clue. Don't care about the nuthuggers, just saying that's what I've looked into so far and will probably come down to. This will be a slow build. Like winter time before finishing if I'm lucky. But I'll be working on stuff from now til forever. Should be fun and make me hate myself so looking forward to it. only pic for now
  8. So I am finally getting around to updating my build log and starting this UBL. I am gonna post what I started with and whats in there now and what will be installed (purchased). I started out with 2 DC lvl 4's with 5 soft parts on a DC 5k with 3 XS d3100's in the bank and 1 d3400 up front. All Shok comp cable (ofc), with a set of 6.5 RE comps. I was doing a 150 with this set up. There is the equipment and box in the first set up. All work was done by Justin at Sub Sonic Addiction with me tagging along hahaahah. On to the the build
  9. Here is the homie Justin's Blazer. Just putting this build log together for him on my account since he forgot his password and he needed a better build log for his SOTM nomination.. (which was missed by a day... oh well next month) I am just gonna post the pics and videos for now so its not gonna have all the descriptions. I just figured Justin can add the commentary when he gets his account squared away. I am sure he will want to come back and put it under his name and fill in all the details. This Blazer is a BEAST... for those that have heard it you know what I am talking about and for those that have not heard it.... your missing out!! Thanks to Alicia Yeo for getting all the pics and videos together.... Anyways on with the pics Here some pics of the earlier setup and the teardown The start of the current set up...

  14. Impala: Purchased a couple months ago, needless to say, the stock audio system was no where near sufficient. The Goodies: Two Alpine Type R D4's. 40ft 1/0 NVX (half blue/half gray) 100ft of NVX 16g Speaker wire, plus another 50 ft of wire for the tweeters, 3 20ft RF RCA's, Audison distrobution block, 1 pair of Hertz Hi-Energy 165XL components for the front, and Hertz Energy components for the rear. RF T1500 for the Subs, and a RF T600-4 for the interiors. 80sq ft of NVX sound deadener. Pioneer 5500BHS 7" Screen, and a Radio Pro 5 harness to integrate everything. Vmax Charge Tank 2500, and a Optima Red Top to minimize the light dim. Started with runnin the NVX 1/0 Power, and ground front to rear . After the wire was ran, we wanted to see how the Vmax CT 2500 was gonna fit in the wheel well, luck would have it that it was about perfect. We wanted to fire the subs in, so we needed to see what we were looking at to try and seal off the box. Most of my car, sitting in the living room Time to start deadening...
  15. Hi guys new to the forum need some help understanding these different "hertz settings" My amp has a crossover frequency from 40 Hz to 130 Hz, and my subwoofer is supposedly set to 32Hz. My door speakers are, according to the box 49-31000Hz. My understanding is that the crossover frequency is the point at which the amp takes over the speaker, vice versa. But on my headunit I have got different setting for LPF, HPF and Slope, please could someone explain what these different things are and how i can tune them to give me optimum sound? Please go easy on me if I have said anything wrong i am partially new to this thanks guys
  16. Columbus Car Audio 40% of Hertz Products.
  17. I aint new in here, but we don't really see such kinda installs here in India. I know walled setups in other countries are common but here in India it is relatively new. Some of you folks might have checked my earlier build log posted here http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/151241-2-fi-sp4s-in-a-ford-in-india/ I was using 2 FI SP4 15"s in a ported enclosure in boot of a SUV and managed to do a hairtrick. A vid can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO7nID88yJQ&feature=player_embedded Was already bored of the setup and wanted to try something new.. Went through a thread on CACO regarding 4th orders and decided to try one of those for SP4's (Got impressed by vids posted by soundstreamsilverado), Took his suggestions regarding the enclosure and that's how it all started. Once again the ride in which the setup was done..
  18. Found a local authorized hertz dealer 30 miles away from my crib so gonna go check em out! any specific components I can listen to? also the amp that should go with it? Again Im looking for some 6.5 components not too expensive.. maybe 200ish? THANKS!
  19. 2013 Impala: Purchased a couple months ago, needless to say, the stock audio system was no where near sufficient. We wanted to fire the subs in, so we needed to see what we were looking at to try and seal off the box. Most of my car, sitting in the living room Time to start deadening... After the trunk was done we need to move to the doors: One reason was to run the new speaker wire to the Hertz Components, and another was to seal off the doors to essentially turn the doors into a seal/deadened box.
  20. Ok, so ive looked into Hertz before and well didnt see anything in CA, well today i called up this shop and they told me they were the only CA autherized dealer. I find this hard to be leave as when i walled in there all i saw was like 20 boxes of Hertz?? stuff, alpine and kicker. so how can i find out if they are true dealers or not. i did check the Hertz website and didnt see anything.
  21. Oh I've missed my stereo. Got the truck a year ago and finally getting off my ass to put something in it. The truck Stock head unit using a JL Cleansweep Currently have a JL JX360/4 Hertz High Energy 165L mids up front with JL C5 tweeter Hertz HCX 165 coax in rear doors I'll update pics as I go but I got something in the mail today. And next to a DC M2-8 Obviously a new sub and I haven't seen anyone do much with one so hoping it makes some music. Will be bridged off the rear channels of the 360/4 for a few weeks until I get a SQ 750.1. Future plans will be adding 3-4 more 8s but that will be a few years. Just wanted to try something new. Box it's going in will be 1 cube net, 4" aero and I'm going to play with tuning but will have two ports to swap out, one for around low 30hz and the other closer to 38 probably depending on how it sounds. Also did something today I could never do with the Taurus. Picked up a sheet of wood for my box. To be continued..
  22. Im looking at getting 4 new door speakers for my jeep liberty. i was considering and was pretty much set on the hertz hsk xl but the place where im getting my car done doesn't carry hertz. they carry focal and JL. My friend has the c3 and they sound nice. but i have 2 13w7s in a ported box at 30 hz and i doubt very seriously if they will keep up. the guy at the shop wants me to get the Focal KR2s for my front stage. I've heard that the hertz hsk xl have more output than the KR2, is there any validity to this? the benefit of getting the focals is that the shop will fix them if anything goes wrong. The hertz would be bought from the interwebz. the other concern is that i read a thread from 2008 where someone said that in freezing temperatures the surround on the hertz hsk will freeze and when you play the speaker it will destroy itself. this is a big concern because my car is in those temperatures during the winter. Just looking for a little advice? Thanks
