    Help on building a box for 2 15" L7's

I'm no good at designing boxes with Sketchup so it would be great if someone could help me out with this. I don't like my pre-fab box very much, it's horrible at hitting lows. My max dimensions are: H:20" W:37" L:28" My port: H:18.5" W:5" L:18" That should put me at 10 Cubes and 32 Hz I have 2 15" L7's going into this, and it's going in a Chevy Blazer
  2. Help! lol I built a ported woofer box thinking this would sound A LOT better than my previous sealed box for 4-15" L7's but it doesn't! Hits high bass cool but not lows. Do I need to tune lower by making port longer? The box is 23"H x 49" W x 58"D port is 21.5"H x 15"W x 10.5"D tuned to about 34Hz per Torres Tuning Calculator... What did I do wrong? It is my 1st build so take it easy on me guys I barely get any air out of port. Don't want to give up and cancel the port and just wall the interior and make it sealed.
  3. Hey everyone! So I've got 6 Kicker L7 15's that I am going to run on 3 - Massive N4 Amps. Basically I need advice for the new box I'm wanting to build. I kind of have an idea of what i want it to look like BUT get stuck when it comes to port sizes. I attached a quick sketch. -This set up is NOT for my daily driver (2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV) and I listen to different music genres but mostly EDM and RAP. -I want them to pound and hit lows well when I turn em up -The maximum space I can use is: W:54in. x H:21in. x D:57in. so up to 32.88 cubic feet of gross volume, if it was one whole box. (The height can vary a few inches.) I was thinking of dividing this into 3 boxes within, for example, have one full piece top, bottom, sides and just have 3 walls inside dividing each set of 2-woofers. -The woofers and port(s) will be facing up. I know Kicker recommends up to 6 cu. ft. of net volume per sub for these subs for "SPL/DeepBass". Overall my questions are: -How many cubic feet should I make my box? -What frequency should I tune my box to? -Any other hints based on my needs? Thanks guys!
  4. Alright guys So i have the idea of getting set of Kicker Comp 15" subs. I have a 1990 Ford Bronco and Right now i got some pathetic little Planet Audio AC12D's <---"lul's" in the back in a ported box I built, they sound okay just not enough for me to cheap for me I gotta say they are something more for like an S-10 Cab I have way to much Cabin Space for them cheap little guys to satisfy me. So the plan is to buy a set of the Kicker Comp 15"s DVC And I wanna build a 4th Order Band Pass Enclosure. So for 260 Bucks for 2 Kicker 15"s and a few extra for the MDF and the 3/4" Plexy Glass, I think I will be under the limit of 500 bucks. I Was just curious of anyone else. Have or seen or built Boxes for a Bronco? Have you guys ever seen one or two 12" subs rattle the shit out of a Bronco like the way a set of 12's sound in a Truck of a car? Because if I can get my truck to hit Hard; Low & Clean I will go with Higher Quality 12" Subs like a kicker CVR's in a 4th Order or 3 CVR's in a Ported. I just would like some input because it just seems like there is so much Cabin Space it's hard to Compress a large Cabin like a bronco and make some hard low bass I've noticed. Unless it's just my cheap subs <----"I have a feeling that's my issue" But Since I can afford it now I'm just going to Upgrade I wanna know. So here is my list or ideas Which shall I do? 1. Two 15" Kicker Comps in a band pass box. 2. Three CVR 12" kickers in a Ported Box. 3. Two CVR's in a 4th order Band Pass.
  5. whats up guys, long time form creeper 1st time post, so I picked up some brand new 2014 Kicker L7's today and a Hifonics Zeus 3200.1... I had a Brutas and a Addictive audio V2 12 in a 4th order.. My question is is a 4th order possible for 2 12" L7 in a 2012 impala I already have top deck cut for old 4th order 6.5x9 port, I know new port will be MUCH bigger but im lost on building this box I cant find any answers or ppl who have done it I want SPL not Quality... ANY help or ideas creating this box would be great! thanks guys.
  6. I am thinking about getting 2 dual 15" kicker L7's and they are rated for 1000rms a piece and are 2omhs and I have a high output alt rated for 200amp and a brand new high cell deep cell battery so the lights don't dim I will be changing the big 3 out soon and I just need help finding the right amp for these subs so the subs arnt lacking power nor the amp is working to hard all the time please help...
  7. I just purchased a 1997 ford explorer and I am going to build my first sub box as i sold my round subs and i cannot find any prefab boxes for the solobarics. I am wondering if someone could tell me the best way to build a box for a dual 12 inch l7 setup, i have about 40 inches between the wheel wells and plenty of space between the back seat and the hatch. I am hoping someone could give me a cut sheet and a sketch up of the box perhaps? I would prefer the subs and the port be on the same face just as a preference and i would also like to know if having seperate ports for each sub is better, such as a port on each outer wall or should i build a shared port in the middle? If someone figured it will sound better to have the ports facing the door and the subs facing up or visa versa i am open to suggestion. Any feedback is much appreciated.
  8. I have been looking for the specifications of the Kicker L7 12. I already know the rms and stuff like that. But I am looking for stuff like magnet weight and diameter and coil length and diameter. I would also like to know the usable throw (excursion) of the subwoofer thanks
  9. I am looking to be purchasing two 15's. I was looking at two different subwoofers. Audioque HDC3 15s Kicker L7 15s Which one will be louder. I am looking at sealing off my trunk too.
  10. Hey everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. I have always found my answer with enough reading, however box design is something i can not seem to grasp. If anyone would have a few minutes to design a box for me it would be greatly appreciated. The box im running now is beyond junk.. Vehicle : Chevy Blazer Location in the vehicle: Rear / Cargo Area Space available (Depth x Width x Height):Depth is 33In, Width is 40In, Height at 12inches I can keep it hidden under the cargo cover (preferred). But 17inches max. Subwoofer make and model: Kicker L7 Subwoofer Size: 12 Inch Number of Subwoofers: Single Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.):Slot Port What type of music do you like?: Mostly Rap Is your goal SPL or Everyday Music?: Both I suppose. Looking for that balance of LOUD and LOW Tuning Freq (Hz): 35Hz is that balance as far as I have read... Volume : Whatever is necessary for optimal result. Space available is the maximum space i could give up in the cargo area. I would like the box as small as possible (while staying within Volume spec / Hz Tuning) to retain some room for cargo. Also I have noticed on some box requests the amp setup seems to be asked about. Pairing this with a kicker 750.1.

    prefab box 4 L7

Hey Guys i was just wondering what the community thinks about this box..i copied the description below *Big ports and a divider separating left and right chambers. *Built solid for deep clean bass *Tuned at about 35 hertz *Dimensions: Width 38, Height 15.25, Depth 30 *About 8cuft of air space
  12. So I have already built a 6 cubic inch box with 3/4 MDF. Box Specs Width-40" Height-18" Depth-19 1/2" Right now its just a sealed box, but i want to port it to about 28 hz. Can anyone help me figure out the port size and all of that? Iv never done a port. Thanks in advance!
  13. Welcome to Alex Crane's aka Fuzzy336's multi car build log! So after reading so many different Build logs, and sense I have built a few trucks up myself, i decided that it would be pretty fun to make my own build log, For starters I'm going to cover my 3 main vehicles, my 2002 Tahoe, my 2004 Tahoe, and my 93 Toyota pickup, the build logs will cover everything I've done to each vehicle from cosmetics to audio work and everything else in between, so I hope you all enjoy my multi build log! Please note that 95% of the work that has been done was done before i ever decided to take pictures of everything during the process but I will definitely take pictures of everything that I do from here on out! This top post will primarily just be used as an Introduction page and a reference page linking to all future posts with important updates so you don't have to scroll through every page looking for all the small details, and on top of that, every major upgrade will be edited into these 4 top posts to make the process easier. Guide: Post 1 = Introduction and reference post Post 2 = 2002 Tahoe Post 3 = 2004 Tahoe post 4 = 1993 Toyota Pickup Post 5 = Future vehicles I currently own all of these vehicles so updates will come as soon as I can with all of them. 14. a friend of mine has a 2013 wrangler JK without the touch screen in it from factory he bought a kicker L7 15" and a zx1000.1 for his setup i put it in grounds are fine rcas are brand new and everything checks out nicely. i wired the Fierce Audio LOC into his sound bar behind a speaker. if i knock on his doors/roof the sub outputs the same noise. its the worst where the LOC is located noise is louder just a thup that syncs to whenever i tap the sound bar. any helps appreciated guys
  15. Hi Guys, I own an BMW e23 1980 and two Kicker L7's 15 inch Right now I got them both mounted on the back of my rear seat, doesn't sound too bad but i figured a box would sound a lot better. So these are the max dimensions of the box i could build hope you guys could help me out building the best box i can fit in the trunk. H: 35 cm / 13.78 inches* W: 80 cm / 31.50 inches* D: 60 cm / 23.62 inches* If the dept gets smaller (around 40 cm) i can get the box higher up to 40 cm 15.75 inches* For the port location is it better to point it into the car ? Cause i already got an hole cut in the middle of the back of the rear seat plate. Thanx for any help. *converted with google.
  16. So here is my question, im a huge kicker fan, I know alot of people hate on them, but I like they way the l7's sound. So I had a 2004 tahoe and it started dying on me, I had 2 15" l7's in a 12^3ft box after displacement tuned to 32 hz running off of a kicker zx2500.1 amp and a kicker dx400.4 to 4 6.5" power bass pro audio mids and 4 cone tweeters, 1 of each per channel. Well I bought a new 2002 Tahoe and it came with 2 10" l7's in a ported box tuned to 40 Hz. I have an extra kicker dx1000.1 amp laying around from my last car before both of these tahoe's and while I loved the lows of the 15's, I wanted something to hit the higher bass notes on a comparable level as the 15's and not just the door speakers. Im in the process of moving everything over from the old tahoe to the new one, and I know everyone talks about sound cancellation, but sense all 4 subs are 2008 model 2 ohm l7's, could I not run the 10's and 15's together to use the 10's as a mid bass sort of thing? I would set the zx2500.1 to 10-40 Hz response and the dx1000.1 to 40-200 Hz so the subs wouldn't be hitting the same notes per say, I have a friend with an oscilloscope who will properly set all of my gains to get the most out of the subs without damaging them, and just for relevance, I added 2 Stinger SPV44's in the trunk for the 3 amps. So what do you guys think? would this work if I have the amp crossover's set to not play the same notes as each other? Or would this still be a bad idea? And It's not like im spending any money to do this sense I already have everything laying around, i just wanted to get everyones opinion on the matter. Any and all responses welcome, just if the response is no or I wouldnt suggest it, please explain why so I can actually know the right answer, thanks!
  17. Does anyone knows the best box design musical sounding for an l7? who can calculate one for me i want it ported.(in cm please) i listen to almost everything exept hardstyle hardcore and shit like that. i know this is'nt a soundquality woofer but i know you can get great sound out of it. what i have know as a design is 110 liters (without bracing sub and port) with the original port 6,4CM wide 41 cm high and 50 cm long i hope that somebody has a better one.
  18. Alright, so I've lurked on these forums for quite some time, and im now in the process of building my first real system so I would love some input/advice. For starters, I am a fan of Kicker L7's, I know a lot of people may hate on them but that is what I would like to run. My vehicle is a 2004 Tahoe LT. Currently I have 2 stinger spv44 batteries, a kicker zx2500.1 amp, a JVC touch screen head unit, and 1 4 ohm 15" L7 wired to a 2 ohm load in a super bass pro box. Im running 4 powerbass 6.5's in my doors, and 2 unknown tweeters (friend owns an installation shop and gave them to me for free). Everything else is still stock. My current setup is I have my stock everstart battery under the hood, im running 0 gauge wire from that battery (which I will reference to as Battery 1) to a stinger spv44 in the trunk (Battery 2), and then that is connected the other spv44 (battery 3) right beside it. I have 2 200 amperage fuses on the wire running from battery 1 to battery 2, the first fuse less than 12" from battery 1, and the 2nd fuse less than 12" from battery 2. I have wire connecting both of the positive terminals between batteries 2 and 3 and wire connecting both negative terminals between batteries 2 and 3. Battery 2 and battery 3 are also both grounded in separate locations. Im running wire from battery 3 to the zx2500.1 amp with another 200 amperage fuse on that wire leading to the amp. The amp is also grounded in a different location than battery 2 and 3. I plan to upgrade my system to 2 2 ohm 15" L7's here shortly to keep them at a 2 ohm load, build a vented box with separate air chambers, 6 cubic feet of air space per sub. Now that I have explained everything to (hopefully) provide all of the information that you need, here are my questions. 1) Do I have both of the extra batteries and the amp all wired up correctly? All of the wire ran is 0 gauge and there are only the 3 fuses listed in the set up described above, is there anything that I need to change related to how its wired? Do I need to upgrade the battery under my hood and/or my alternator? 2) I dont want my box to take up all of my trunk, I am an avid paintball player so I still need room in the back for my gear bag and cases of paint. If I was to put the box as close to behind the 2nd row of seats as I could so I still had room behind the box for my gear, would there be any significant SPL or SQ loss? 3) My 2nd row seats are bucket seats and not a bench and I currently have the amp mounted on the floor between them, It seemed like a great Idea at first but now im worried about someone potentially spilling something on the amp and ruining it, if the box is built with 1" thick MDF, could I safely mount the amp to the box or would it receive too much vibrations and damage it? The box will be carpeted and mounted to the floor. 4) I listen to all music from country to classic rock, to deathcore, to rap, to dubstep, so pretty much anything and everything, what would be the best Hz to tune the box to for good daily listening, I want the system to be loud, but I want as much of a full range as possible. 5) I want to amp the 6.5's and my tweeters, all of the 6.5's are 75 watt rms at 4 ohm (im not sure if they are DVC or not, can't remember) should I get a 4 or 6 channel amp, and what amp would you guys recommend for them? Currently the 1 l7 already overpowers them tremendously when running off of the headunit alone and thats with the zx2500's gain at 5%, and 0% on the bass boost. 6) Should I put support bars inside the box for those subs or do you think the wood will be thick enough to prevent any vibrations? 7) If mounting the amps on the box is a bad idea, all of my seats are leather, could I mount the amp im getting for the 6.5's/tweeters on the back of a leather seat or could/would that cause me any problems or be a bad idea? 8 ) I keep my EQ on my head unit on flat but the subwoofer level at +10, the treble in the music starts to distort at alot lower volumes when playing music off of my ipod (its EQ is also set to flat) which is connected via USB when compared to listening to music off of a CD. To explain a little better, I have these same songs on my itunes list, I burnt a CD with 10 of the songs and can go to volume 40 before it distorts, but when listening to the same songs from my ipod, they start to distort at volume 32, what is causing that? 9) Sense space is an issue here, is sub and port both up fine? I've been told sub up port back is better, but if I load up gear behind the box, I don't want to choke the port of air space. 10) Once I'm running 2 L7's, do you think those 6 speakers, even after being amplified will be enough to have a good balance of lows, mids, and high's? I would like to keep my subs as loud as I can without clipping them, but I still want to be able to hear the words haha. 11) With only having the sub amplified, the sub is slightly out of phase/delayed with rest of the music, this will be my first set up amping my mids/highs, will amping the mids/high's fix the slight delay that I hear? 12) This may be a bit un-related as far as I know, but about 2 weeks after my so far system install I got a check engine light with the message, "reduced engine power" and im now getting 0 throttle response. I was told by a certified mechanic that it is an electrical issue, do you think this was caused by my system or is it just a separate problem? I know I asked A LOT of questions but I want to have this system done right and I know the brilliant people of the SMD community have the answers. Any comments, help, answers or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks everybody! *P.S. if I put this in the wrong section, please just move it instead of deleting it and send me a PM as to where it was moved to, thanks again!

    2 10' Kicker L7s

Can I get a price check on 2 Kicker L7s, 2004/2005 models? Sorry if this is the wrong area to post this in, but if soemone could help i'd appreciate it. If this is the wrong area then could someone guide me to the correct area and i will delete this and repost it there. Thanks in advance!
  22. Hey everyone, So I've designed my box for my 2 15" Kicker L7's (06S15L72) and I've got a question for you experts on sub woofer mechanics and box design. To start off here's my basic specs for my system as well as my design specs: Box design: -11.79 net cubic feet -150 sq. in. of port area -32.5 hz tuning -the big hole in the back will be a plexi-glass window Electrical set up: -kicker zx2500.1 -270 amp DC power H.O. Alt -stock Toyota True 2 batt -Big three 0 gauge -Rockford 0 gauge all around I'll be running the subs off a kicker zx2500.1 in the back of my 98 4runner. I decided to go with subs up port back after reading up on the benefits of doing so in mid size suv's. My question: I know the port area is within the recommended port area range for this size of box, but I hear that using a smaller port than usual is advised when overpowering subs to keep a balance of pressure. Is the port area an acceptable size to create enough back pressure for the 2500 watts RMS amp I will be putting to my 2 1000 watt RMS a piece L7's? Here's an image of my design below: Any comments/suggestions on my box design are also welcomed. *oh and ignore the tiny measurements like the 1/64ths and stuff, just cldnt get those spot on in the sketch up.
  23. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have 2 kicker solobaric L7 15's with 2 planet audio bb2400.1 strapped together. i have the subs in a probox which is 4 cubic feet per sub plus port. i believe it is tuned at 45 hz. i know these subs get louder and kicker says to do 6 cubic feet per sub plus port but im new to port tuning and have no clue on how to do this. Also i want it to be musical cuz its a daily driver. i have my system in a 05 tahoe so i have room. i was told to face them up and the port towards the back. Can anyone help me with how to build the box, with measurements along with port size? i would appreciate any help you guys can give me.
