Hey everyone! So I've got 2 kicker L7 15's that I'm running on a kicker zx2500.1 @ 2 ohms in my small suv. Basically I need advice for the new box I'm building based on my habits and the power I'm putting to them -This set up is for my daily driver (1998 4runner) and I listen to a lot of rap -I want them to pound and hit lows well when I turn em up -My maximum space in my trunk is: W:38in. x H:32in. x D:21in. so up to 12.56 cubic feet of gross volume -The box and port will be facing up. I'm considering doing the port back and on the bottom so I wont have to bend it -I'm planning on putting them together in a single chamber I know kicker recommends up to 6 cu. ft. of net volume per sub for these subs for "SPL/DeepBass" however I'm wondering with the power I'm putting to them if I should go smaller like around 4 or 5 cubic feet. Overall my questions are: -How many cubic feet should I make my box? -What frequency should I tune my box to? -Any other hints based on my needs? Thanks guys!

Has any one used the Kicker IX amps, if so how do you like them and what is your over all experience with them? If anyone has any circuit board pics of one that would be awesome to help me decide. Not trying to make a this amp is better than this one topic or a VS topic, just wondering what peoples' experiences have been with the IX series. I have been looking into the 500.4 and the 1000.1.

Well, to start it all of, I made a post very similar to this about 3 months ago. That was me just bored one day and hoping for things. now that isn't really the case, I have a steady job and i need something to look forward too while doing tedious work. Here is my "dream", I'm set on a kicker l7, 12" that's just the sub i want, its different and I've read its a very nice sub. I'd prefer make a box myself with my dad, as we don't really have much in common and these little projects are always nice, but if a pre-made one is really needed i guess i understand. For a head unit, I've already found one i like and that puts out good power, but of course expert opinions are always great; (Keenwood Kdcx396; http://www.amazon.co...wood+kdc+x396..) and for the speakers, I'm freaking lost. I had the dimensions but lost them, had the build written done but lost it during a fresh install of windows. i have a 2001 mercury sable ls sedan. Now that the stories out of the way, we are going to the quick version of this. Budget: Id like to spend less than $800, I'm going to call $800 the absolute cap, but i would greatly prefer working for less time to get this thing. Headunit: $139 http://www.amazon.co...nwood+kdc+x396. Speakers: ? (id like something that isn't overpowered by the sub, but runs without loosing quality when the sub actually hits, aswell as not needing a separate amp, and would just run off the head units rms) Sub: Any type of L7 12", i heard something about the 4ohm being better idk, like my name says i'm pretty clueless.. (a link to a good explanation of how ohm's work would be nice too (: .) Side notes: i know that i'm going to need a dash kit, i've got that part figured out, but if anyone has suggestions on that aswell its appriciated. Finally, i appreciate all time given here and am not going to abandon this thread like i did the last one. Thanks to anyone who replys (: Oh, and if this build isnt possible with $800 just tell me please, and I'm in Ohio if that has anything to do with choices on stores or shipping etc.

I may be getting 2 12" Kicker L7's 2ohm and want to know what's the best amp with the subs without having to buy an extra battery. The subs take 750rms power, and 1500 peak. I'm also running 4 gauge wiring for ground and power. 16 gauge to my speakers. I'd just like to know what would be the best amp suitable for the subs. Thanks

I have two l515 kicker solobarics dual 2 ohm and they are wired to 2 ohms on a kicker zx1500.1 amp. Everything is wired correctly and the gains are set with the dd-1. So everything is exactly how it should be. I re wired my subs with some nicer 10awg speaker wire yesterday and hooked it all back up and once I started playing it loud for a while my subs got the bunt voice coil smell, I double checked to make sure it is all wired the right way and it is. The gain is still set where it has been, but I'm still getting the smell, it didn't start till after I re wired the subs so I'm thinking the wiring may be the cause. Im not sure. Help me out!

Hi, im almost 16 and about to get a job over the summer and i want to get a decent system, But thats just to put things in perspective. Im looking to buy a kicker L7 (http://www.sonicelec...-11VS12L72.html) I know their is alot of controversy between square subs and circular, but the only reason i want a square sub is to be different than all of the other people at my school. well that being said, i know i want that sub, but then their is the problem of a head unit, and speakers. So, i would prefer kicker speakers or mids and highs (as you can see by the name and tittle im new, cut me some slack) but whatever is going to get me the most bang for my buck. I have a 2001 mercury sable, witch is another huge issue. If you didnt know this car has the controls for the Ac/Heating built into what houses the cd player. So, based on my knowledge i will need to just leave that there, and put a head unit in another space (it has a little slot underneath all of this) That being said, im not really sure what size speakers this car has, im pretty sure the back is 4x8 but not positive. and the doors i have no clue. Now their is the issue of an amp, and im lost. im not sure if i should be running power from the amp to each one of the speakers i buy or if their is some sort of bridging device that will run from one channel of the amp and bridge off to each one of the speakers or what. again im clueless. anyway, their is this amp (http://www.sonicelec...ufacturer_id=51) witch to me looks kind of sketchy seeing as how its only $100, but thats why im asking. i dont really know the tell tail signs of a good/bad amp. But then again this good be a fantastic amp and i just dont know it, thats why im asking . So, i think ive summed evereything up. I want a kicker L7, i dont know what speakers or what amp to get, and i dont really know anything. im really hopeing to get educated on the matter and hope to have a system going by next school year. Thanks for your time, i appreciate all responses.
