  1. Let's kick it old school with a 20yr old Kicker "monster" amp, the 500ss. This amp pre-dates the ZR1000 and was available in 1996 for an MSRP of $999 USD. The 500ss is rated to deliver: 250x2 @ 4 ohms (500x1 @ 8 ohms) 425x2 @ 2 ohms (850x1 @ 4 ohms) Let's take a look at this amp and see how it performs on the SMD/D'Amore Engineering AD-1 Amp Dyno.   2. Step back to 1987 and it your parents bought you a BMW or Audi as your first car, you could probably afford an amp like the a/d/s PQ20. At $770 USD, it was an expensive amplifier ($1641 adjusted for October 2017 dollars), aimed at those who wanted the best sound quality (and had deep pockets!). The PQ20 is a four channel amplifier rated to deliver 80x4 at 4 ohms or 200x2 at 4 ohms or 80x2 plus 200x2. The amp has no built-in crossovers to color the sound, it is just a pure gain block. Just for fun, while I was testing my old school Phoenix Gold MS-2125 on the Amp Dyno, I thought it would be cool to try the AMM-1 to see how much power the amp put out to my Infinity Perfect 12VQ subwoofer. I DIG the AMM-1 and it's portability and ease of use are second to none. It is like having an Amp Dyno in your hand! Note: as you'll see, the amp was seeing a 5 ohm load bridged, so there was more power to be had from the amp. The Amp Dyno test upcoming will show all the modes including dynamic power.   5. So my AMM-1 just came in and right away I had to get to using it. I have an MB Quart q1.1500d (a Maxxsonics amp so think hifonics) in my car running off of a D3400 and the 5.7L stock alt (160 amp I think). So on to RESULTS! Freq- Dyno'd power @ measured box rise - Measured Power Factor 30hz - 1043W @ 1.6 ohms - 95% 33hz - 1048W @ 2.0 ohms - 83% 34hz - 1032W @ 2.1-2.2 ohms - 79% 36hz - 951W @ 2.5 ohms - 78% 40hz - 607W @ 4.1 ohms - 73% 42hz - 563W @ 5.4 ohms - 74% 44hz - 501W @ 7.4 ohms - 76% 46hz - 445W @ 10.1 ohms - 80% 48hz - 423W @ 9.3 ohms - 96% 50hz - 421W @ 6.8 ohms - 95% I tried to get voltage drop but the dc volt min/max was only reading max and 0.0 constantly for min I might try again later to get voltage drop but if the min/max doesn't work it's difficult for me to get that number by myself. Amp Guts Posted ↓↓↓ Conclusion I know these numbers aren't too important since I couldn't get at what voltage it was at but I had the car running at idle and if I had to guess I would say I dropped to ~13.0V. This was about what I was expecting from this amp, nothing too impressive but it wasn't wayyyy under rated power. I've been waiting to do this test before getting a new amp and it finally came in! I might do it all again to check the voltage but what do you guys think? I thought the 33hz numbers and 46hz numbers were the most impressive/telling.
