adreano17 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I have some Alpine Type-S SPS-600C, and when i turn up the volume, and get a burning smell. i installed the factory bass blockers that came with the speakers, stright from the manufacture. i was thinking maybe i should back off the highs on the equalizer, but even when i make my HU EQ flat, still have the same problem. i set my gains accordingly, but through a 60Hz wave. how can they be getting too much power under these condititons? BTW, they are brand new, so do they need to get broken in or what? thanks. Freshman6969 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 well what i used to set my gains was 40hz-subs 1k- mids/highs 40 or 60hz- h/u idr which Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k! adreano17 Posted February 12, 2011 Author Report Posted February 12, 2011 definitely was the fact that i set my gains according to a 60 hz wave. my speakers were getting TOO much power. 30+ to each channel = ~200 RMS. i feel like a complete dumbass. but its properly set now TG. thanks for the help!
