THEKINGsBACK Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 So guys i just purchased my new truck and im trying to piece some stuff together. my questions to the smd family is does anybody know of a company that makes a decent pair of 6x9's components b/c thats what i have in my front door...Now i have herd that its better to have a speaker that is in the form of a circle than the shape of an oval b/c of the motion of sound waves travel better hence why most woofers are circular he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:

Trâgîk Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Well sometime you can buy 6.5 components that have a 6 x 9 plate that comes with it so both the midbass and the tweeter fit on that plate and will fit right where your 6 x 9s would go. I just bought a pair of RF T1 comps that come with that plate from what i was told. I havent gotten them yet but i plan on putting one set where my 6 x 9s are in my rear deck. Idk about the whole circle to oval, one better than the other thing but i do favor components to coaxils because of imaging. Also they are said to be build better as seperate, but i dont think that is always 100 percent true -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
JZeFF Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Back when i first got into car audio i was trying to replace a set of 4x10's with a new set... I was advised to make an adapter and use 5.25's instead of the 4x10's. I don't remember the exact reason that i was given, and it could have been completely wrong... But round speakers generally sound better than oval shaped ones. Pioneer x930 bt Rockford t2500 bdcp 18" nightshade v1 DC audio 175.4 RF power T162s up front, infinity 3 way 6x9's in the back (removing rear stage and re-doing doors soon) 3x XS power D2700's Knukonceptz 0awg all around
Trâgîk Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yeah i prefer them better too but thats just pure preference. I just think i can get better speakers in a 6.5 than 6 x 9.. And yes they have adapter rings that go over the 6x9 hole to fit the 6.5 speaker too so you dont have to use a oval plate thing. Sonix electronix or any place like that has them cheap -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
