audiofanaticz Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 The reason why i put them like that is because they matched up perfectly DD subs are 500 rms and i can get 1000 watts out of the DD amp and its "perfect" and the AQ subs are 600 rms and amp is 1200 watts but if i went with the DD subs and AQ amp i would be over powering by 200rms total. Is being over by 200 bad? 200watts over powered is nothing... Theres been people to put 2000+ watts on a 1500 series woofer. Its all about your box, and having CLEAN UNCLIPPED POWER. Besides that the impedance of a woofer is a varibul and is never 1 ohm or 2 ohm or whatever ohm like they say.. The impedance of a woofer is only true to the specs when the woofer is not playing, when the woofer is playing you have other things that come into play like box/impedance rise. So your sub amp maybe wired down to 1 ohm, but when the woofers are moving, the amp will be playing well above the wired impedance which gives you less power then the amplifier that is rated with a dummy load that is not a variable impedance. By the time your said and done, over half the rated power of your amp is lost due to impedance rise, heat, voltage drop, etc.

Digital Designs is going to be signifigantly more expensive then the AQ woofers because everything about dd is made and assembled in the USA. While Audio Que parts (motors, cones, etc) come from China, and assembled, stored, and shipped from the DD unless that was changed.

I like the fact they are made in the U.S.

What i can tell you is this, i don´t have any experience with AQ subs, but that sub looks just like my 2512´s man, besides that, i have the understanding that AQ and DD are the same, am i wrong? would like some one to jump in here with an opinion, but if i´m correct, i would say the AQ should be louder than the DD 1512 Once again, these are only assumptions, what would i know?
