herbykw
I have been running Two XL 15"s off a American Bass VFL500.1. They each have about 3 cubes tuned to 35 hertz. They handle it just fine. I Love it. Im wondering with the box tuned at 35 like that does it hit the lows in the 25-28hz range pretty well or what? Just trying to figure out where to tune mine. Robert8252
My 12" XL is in 2.3 net with a 6" aero tuned at 34hz on 2k. New setup coming is two 12" XLs in 4cubes with 80^inches of port. The current box can play down to 25hz and is fucking ear sex to me and those who heard it liked it Also since its a big concern to you playing low I don't use my subsonic filter.. I did when the sub was new but now it will play whatever..... EXCEPT the one time I tried "Bass I Love You" which I never heard before and found out that goes REALLY subsonic fast....... So now I keep the SSF at about 20-23 So basically I have damn near a box very similar to your current one in volume on just a little less power on a 12" instead of a 15" sealed off from the trunk. I dont get to talk about my system much cause i dont know anyone with a "real System". I only get to talk about the specs on here. I have cut the amp rack down to free up the port. Just need to take it all the way down, flare the ports, and seal it off. I almost go the 500.1 when DC ran out of the 5ks but went with two amps instead. BIGTOSH
So what's the final thought on this thread? I was thinking on doing two xl 12's in 4 cubes 32hz tune, around 65" of port. Run on a single aq3500.1d. Should I look for more power? More port? Or does this sound good? Ray
More power IMO. You might. See 2k clamped out of that amp. After rise and v drop. And to the 4300.... Sure, I also gave mine 4600 each, but they would not take it for daily beating.. Would heat up very quick when on that power. 2600, they would bang all day with that power.. Than again, my box is a tad on the large side with a lot of vent. To answer the q about 20'sq in.. Yes.. Your math is good. 4.4 with 20 per. The xl likes vent area IMO.
