Cardboardcat15
So since I finally got myself a job, I can start working on my car again. Anyways, I want to build new sealed box for my 15's for temporary use until I save up for bigger and better equipment down the road. After searching the forums a bit, I couldn't find many threads that answered some of my questions, so I'll post them here. What I had in mind was a simple sealed enclosure, common chamber thats about 4 cubic feet after displacement. I would either be using 3/4 MDF or birch, depending on prices. If I were to use the Birch, I would think to resin the whole inside of the box for added thickness, and no resin if I used the MDF. Then obviously some sort of bracing for the box. This is also going to be my first box built, so I'm doing it to get my feet wet with the whole box building thing so I know what I'm doing once I upgrade. Subs will be run off of 1 AP1500D And I know it will probably be asked, so I'll say it here. Im doing a sealed enclosure due to space restrictions. (Has to fit inside the trunk of a 92 Corolla) So am I going about this the right/wrong way? Should I be doing something different? (Other than going ported lol) Thanks for all the help. Carroot1
Sealed box fire foward and seal them off from the trunk for maximum loudness
Cardboardcat15
I was actually planning on doing this later on down the road once I upgrade, but I'm still skeptical about it. If I do Seal off from the trunk now or later, either way the subs will be firing directly into the back seats, (They don't fold down) and I don't want to go to all the trouble of sealing everything off and having it sound like ass =/. Unless someone has done the same thing and has had good results. My Channel on YouTube. korey_hofer
DO NOT fire forward, make the box 2 sealed chambers at 2ft each. and 2 pounds of poly fill each. I would use birch if you can but mdf will work. remember to brace it on all 6 axis. previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. I'm assuming wooden dowel rods would be the best choice since I'm short on space. And sorry for all the questions, I'm still new to box building. My Channel on YouTube. korey_hofer
dowels, 2x4's what ever as long as it will keep it from flexing. firing forward will cut the wave length in half making it much harder to play as low as firing rearwards will do. previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. Makes sense. Thanks for all the help. I'll be sure to post up some pictures once I get paid on Thursday and buy all the material. Hopefully this box will be better than the prefab I've got them in now...LOL My Channel on YouTube.
