cal Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 i need some help i have a 2006 dodge caravan 3.3 it has a 160 amp alternator but i need to upgrade due to my recent amp purchase it is 2000 wrms i already bought a new kinetik hc 2000 not yet installed and was wondering i can get a rewound 250 amp alt between 350 and 500 depending on the company but is it cheapper to add second alt?

cal Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 160 amp alt with a couple nice batteries will be just fine. try it with what you have now and see wut your voltage is at. you said you dont even have the hc2000 in so how do you know your gonna need a bigger alt? i only have 1 hc 2000 and the factory battery i dont have anything installed yet the amp is also in the box the 160 amp is just a factory alternator im trying to get everything together before i do the install the reason im looking at the upgrade in alt becasue of the current draw from the amp. do you think i can get away with factory 160 amp?
