Which would be best first- Battery or alternator

Ok so for my birthday I'm getting the Audioque 1200D amp. I also can either get a battery or an alternator. The wiring under my hood is also getting replaced. SO which should I get first? The alternator or the battery.

You don't need a high output alt for 1200 rms. You really only need a higher capacity battery. I'm running 1200 rms and a 4 channel amp off a stock 70 amp alternator and a auxiliary yellow top and my voltage stays in the mid 13's when bumping.

a H/O alt isint needed if all your gunna run is the 1200D

id get the biggest XS power batt you can fit under the hood and do the big 3 with some 1/0

I have a similar setup as bocaj but I don't have a second battery. I drop to 14.0. Do the big 3 too

Mind you I have a stock walmart battery as well

I would get an alternator because once you get bit by the car audio bug it dosen't stop . That me anyways. And good luck with your system and have fun.

No point to buy something that costs almost twice as much as your amp that you don't even need. I understand your point though about the bug lol

for you only running 1200 watts you really need just to get a xs power battery and having a stock alt fine and do the big 3

Thanks guys. I have a 2008 Malibu CLASSIC. how do I know what size battery I can fit? Or what battery would be best?
