MrEwubbsZ
Im building a system 2 18" FI Btls and a 7000 watts rms amp. and i seen that @ 16 volts it puts out the most watts... So my question is does having more batteries up the volts? Quote 2000 Ranger Build Log
bignickk
no. if you put 2 12v batteries together you will still get 12.6 volts with the car off. the only way to get 16 volts to the amp is to get 16 volt batteries but then you need at least 2 alternators. 1 for the car and the rest with a voltage regulator for the 16 volt batteries. bumonskateboard6
Oh no....Please make your way around the forums and read a lot and learn before you go attempting 2 BTL's of 7k if you don't know about batteries. Also 12v batteries charge at 14v, 14v batteries charge at 16v, 16v batteries charge at 18+ volts. bignickk
No, it doesn't increase volts..it helps maintain the voltage though. Voltage Regulators increase voltage but doesnt he need a 16 volt battery also? even with the regulator? MrEwubbsZ
Ok i see... 2 alternators is absolutely needed? even with a 270 amp alternator? Im clearly still learning about all this stuff so any help is great. Quote 2000 Ranger Build Log

Voltage Regulators increase voltage but doesnt he need a 16 volt battery also? even with the regulator? He'd need a 14v battery, and a 16v alternator in addition to his stock alternator. Stock would charge everything in the car, second would charge a 14v battery bank at 16v then to his amplifier.
