I have been wanting to run DC subs for a while now, and had plans of buying (3) level 4 - 12's as soon as they are available. And later on get three more, and another 5K, so I could build a 4th order wall, which is what I really want the most. But I just got offered a deal that will be pretty hard to pass up. So, what do you guys think? For the same price as the three(3) DC's, I could get 8 more Kicker L5's. I already have 2 BNIB, so that would make 10. So, the choice is: A. - Get 3 DC Audio lvl4 12's, and do another "temp install" or B. - Get ten(10) Kicker L5's and do the 4th order wall I have been dreaming of forever Man, this is gonna be a tough one. I feel like the wall w make me happier. My goals were to play music in the 50's, and do hairtricks w/ ease. Plus, later on I could always swap out the Kickers for DC's, all I'd have to do is cut new baffles. And get another 5K. So, put yourself in my shoes for a min. What would you do? I think they would do quite nicely in a 4th order. Why take baby steps when you can go straight to epic?! You can always do an equipment swap and resale on anything kicker is really good. And I have never thought these subs sounded "muddy" like people say about Kickers in general, except the first one I got, when it was in the factory enclosure. They sound damn good in the last box I built. Hmm, decisions decisions... Rusty has been really good to me so far, and I'm excited about the new m2's. They are gonna build me three level 4 - 12's with lvl 5 coils, spiders, and tinsels, reinforced surrounds, with some red Carbon Kevlar dust caps. And they are going to do a lil something extra for me too. Beast mode lvl4 - 12's, hmmm.... Plus, if I wall now, I'll have a lot more in material, and I'd have to address the suspension issues. I really wanted to do the door panels and interior before I get into all that. I just can't help but feel like either way, I will wish I would have done the opposite. Oh well, I still have a few weeks to decide. TRTC360 Posted December 29, 2011 Report Share Posted December 29, 2011 about the kicker subs sounding "muddy" I don't think they do in the proper enclosure but if it sounds great to you, when you hear the difference in just pure sound quality you'll say damn these lvl 4's sound a lot better and louder, I noticed it when I did a direct swap from CVX's to Lvl 4's in the same exact box the lvl 4's played everything much better than the CVX's even though they weren't getting rated power. I'd get the DC's if I were you.
