scfaust
ive build boxes with screws and pre drilled and it sometimes still splits the wood and after awhile it seemed to come apart even with glue. so i built my last box with 1 inch staples and glue and glassed the inside it held up as lone as i used it. so the box im going to build now i wanted to know what u guys think the staples, with glass and a few braces swhould be ok right. i read on hear glassing dont help but it seem to seal my last box and the box didnt blow apart like the ones ive used just screws and glue on let me know how u guys feel. sorry if its been asked before http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww203/scfaust1/alphadamp.png
98GCLimited
Since I dont have clamps I use glue and 1-5/8" coarse thread drywall screws with a 3/32" drill bit to pre drill the holes.
sprkn_ranger
The main thing that holds boxes together is the glue. The screws, or nails, or whatever simply "clamp" the box together while the glue dries. A good glue joint that was properly done should be just as strong or stronger than the wood itself.
