Autruche Posted April 7, 2011 Report Share Posted April 7, 2011 I have that same one. I picked it up just to say I have a clamp meter. It does work perfectly, but it's not going to be accurate, lol. You are probably trying to measure DC current, this thing only measures AC current, and no RMS function, just a peak hold. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves? Looking at stuff at lowes online but don't know what will work. You CAN'T. Alternators push out DC current, that POS clamp CANNOT measure DC current, only AC. You actually have to spend quite a bit (around $200) to get a good clamp meter if you want one that can read DC amperage. if you need your alternator tested, just take it to Autozone. They may not know how to do it entirely properly, but it's better than nothing. Need Test Tones/Sine Waves?
