C.Sanchez.A Posted April 12, 2011 Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 Okay, I'm ruining a run Knukonceptz KCA Kable (CCA) from my battery in the front to the back and was wondering what size of fuse to use. The wire is rated at 250amps. It will then go into a distribution block that will step it down to 5 runs of 8 gauge. What size fuse would I use for the 8 gauge? Combine the amperage ratings from all the amps your going to run....and that will be the size fuse you will need from the battery. Combine the amperage ratings from all the amps your going to run....and that will be the size fuse you will need from the battery. No, the wire determines the fuse size. Current draw does determine how many necessary runs though. I don`t know yet... thinking of getting Knu 8gauge amp kit (here) yep, it does matter because one brand may inflate the rating. The wire could actually be 10awg. You don't have to worry about that with Knu though. On the site, it says to use 60a fuses. blownengine Posted April 12, 2011 Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 If the 0 gauge is rated for 250 then fuse it at 250 or just below. That way the fuse blows before the wire melts and sets your car on fire.
