TIG
I bought a dc xl 15 d1 and want to put 3krms at 2 ohm on it for comps and then turn the gains down for daily play. Will this hurt the sub? It will be in a 3.8ft3 tuned to 33hrts with 53in2 of port I havent bought the amp yet. A guy told me that if I run the sub at .5ohm into one of my re xt4000d amp as the sub moves it will increase the ohm load to around 1.2ohm. Sounds sketchy to me so Im not sure that I really want to try this out. Quote Since were all having a moment of truth. I hate country too.. I'd only listen to it if I got some hotass bitch in my car and shes gonna suck my dick.
skittlesRgood
the sub can take 3k as long as you dont clip at all. i dont recommend you running at .5ohm. TIG
I will tune the amp so it doesnt clip and then leave it along and use my bass knob to turn the gain up and down from daily to comps. But when I scope the amp and tune to under clipping can it still clip with poor quality music? Quote Since were all having a moment of truth. I hate country too.. skittlesRgood
some songs do have clipping in them, yes. some are recorded that way and there is no version of that song you can get without clipping. its best to only REALLY hammer on songs you know. of course anything decaf has made will be safe. TIG
Ok, good to know. I will just watch what I play and keep my gains down low for daily music.. I think rather than chance the life of my amp I will just buy the new amp I was looking at. This way I will have plenty of power for sub upgrades later on. Thanks for the help Quote Since were all having a moment of truth. I hate country too.. I'd only listen to it if I got some hotass bitch in my car and shes gonna suck my dick. Jason_D
the sub can take 3k as long as you dont clip at all. i dont recommend you running at .5ohm. why wouldnt you recomend running at .5 ohm? if he had a 1ohm stable amp, and good power supply, run it at 2ohm daily, and 0.5 for burps in competition. as long as the amp is getting enough power it will be fine. after box rise etc it will be geting more than 0.5 any way. my amps run daily at 0.7 and are fine. not saying you are wrong/arguing with you, just asking a question

I dont think the OP is at that stage. so while battling imp rise with a low nominal load is the correct answer for some people (i was doing it myself) its not the answer for everyone.
