KzA Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Getting a new car over the next week and I am starting to plan out a system for the car. Currently have two RE audio SE 10's without an amp. These will be going in a ported box, however it wont be too large since this is my DD and I need the trunk space. I have been thinking running 500-750 to these things. Originally I was looking at a JL slash 500/1, however I just think its way too expensive and have a feeling you guys will be able to steer me in the direction of something just as good for much less $$. Thanks for any suggestions!

KzA Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Posted April 24, 2011 The subs are 600w RMS dual 4 ohm voice coil... originally I had them hooked up to an old 1200 w audiobahn amp at 1 ohm. They sounded great at low volume and got very loud, but quickly lost clarity as volume was increased. I want these subs to be loud but also clear and snappy as possible. My original thinking was to provide them a bit less power to obtain this goal, but would maybe running at a higher impedance help? Sorry I'm not so knowledgeable on the specfics of choosing an amp haha.
KzA Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 Ok so after doing a bit of reading around Ive found that apparently running at 2ohm or 4ohm will help SQ versus running down at 1ohm.. Correct me if I am wrong.. Right now I am looking at the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D which will run 600W @ 4ohm. Any thoughts?
Skullz Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 It isn't the running at 1ohm having clarity issues but rather the subs being used, you might want to redo the system as a whole new if you plan on going more towards an SQ system. For the sub portion it really isn't necessary to go higher than 1 ohm to be clean and clear but more in the stage portion where clarity is really noticed.
