A rebuild came quick for the Intrepid. The cruise control didn't work in the car.

So I converted them into a steering wheel remote

I played around with a lot of different kit ideas. this one was made out of plexi and backlit with green neon

At one point, I built a radio cover, out of the factory radio

To monitor the voltage on the dual charging systems, I added a set of voltage guages

I ended up pulling the 8" kicks, to get back some leg room. My wife, her sister, and our daughter built these 6 1/2" kicks. They were one of the few pieces that stayed in the car every time we rebuilt.

I installed the Viper alarm system in the trunk. It was mounted inside the driver-side wall.

The amps we installed were to be liquid-cooled. I installed the radiator system in the passenger trunk wall. A forced-air induction system was designed to pull fresh air from outside, to cool the radiator.

Six Bazooka 10" subs were mounted in the floor. Each pair were in a shared enclosure with thier own amp. The subs were set up so I could run one pair, two pair, or all three pair.

This shot shows the whole trunk. There were five amps in that rack under the rear deck. The center one was actually just a shell. All of the amps had cooling lines running through them.

The center amp shell was motorized. It opened to show the fuse and distribution blocks.

This system was entered in 22 USACi SQ shows. It was 22 1st place trophies and 8 Best of Shows. It was the National SQ Points Champion in 2005.

wow did i admire all ur work and experience its amazing how long u have been doing this for since before i was born now thats passion !! am barely half way thru the pics and really enjoying them thanks for sharing this with us and really like all old school builds just gives me an idea of how sound was back then

With changes in product comming, it was time to rebuild the car.

The first thing up was a new kit/bezel for the radio.

I added a new headliner with the overhead console. It was an easy upgrade to the car. This also gave me a place to stick a screen.

I moved the Voltage guages out of the dash. I used this spot to install a flip out screen.

I moved the voltage guages to the rear view mirror...

Upgraded the battery for the AUx charging system.

This time around we liquid-cooled the amps AND the subs. two radiators were needed.

The fluid that ran through the liquid cooling system usually got us extra points because the fluid did not conduct electricity. This was a good thing to have in case there were any leaks. To prove that statement, I rigged up this test for the installation portfolio for this install.

Here is a shot of the amprack. My favorite part of this rack was the Power distribution and fuse blocks.

My sticker guy made these up for me to add something different to the car.

This Intrepid has an interesting side story. Before the build (with the black amps), I got a job working for a (now closed)car audio manufacturer.(that lasted two months) In USACi, it would have made move into a hard core class we just couldn't afford to play in, much less have the experience to survive in. So for two years, I could not work on my own car, or I would have to move classes. I had to stand by and let others do it. Most of the 1st Bazooka install was done by my wife, my then 9 year old daughter, my school-teacher sister in law, and a close friend who was a paramedic at the time. My best friend and my then 14 year old son helped out along the way. It was one hell of a ride!
