samslowp1s Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I have a couple 12" P1's 4OHM in a prefab box hooked up to a Prime 150-2, both on their own channel. Don't laugh too hard, I got them on a deal that was too good to pass up. I checked the recommended size for ported on Rockfords' website and it stated they 2.1cu ft for each. They are currently sitting at 1.6 tuned at a very high 51Hz. What would you recommend me to tune them to. I used Torres box calc and came up with. Height 16 Width 33 Depth 25 Port 14H X 4W X 12L Tuning on this will be at about 38Hz. Will this be good for these subs or do I have to tune higher/lower to get a good all around response fro them? They actually don't sound all that bad I just want a little more output with the available power I have right now. I figure putting them in a better box will help with this. Anyone with any experience with them, your input would be more than appreciated. Thanks
alehound Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Yeah, I saw they are like 36 bucks each on amazon right now. As for the box, I would tune it a little lower (say 32-35 range). And while it should sound better, it likely wont increase output going with a larger box. You need more power. I am no expert though. Build the box, and upgrade the amp when you can. Patiently waiting until 2016...the year in which I likely get to 300 posts... In which then, and only then, will I finally be able to get me some more decaf...
