1999 4.6L Ford Expedition

Hey all this my current and first ever build and system. Im new to car audio but have always been in to electronics so i feel a lot of this is coming naturally.

My vehicle is a 1999 Ford Expedition. Me being 17 and just finally getting a job that pays minimum i don't have the money to buy a car of my own and pay its insurance so this is my ride for probably the next year. This is my families spare/utility vehicle which roughly translates to mine 99% of the time.

I started this build back in December of 2010 so over this week im going to be bringing this whole thing up to date so you can see my past few months come along as quick as i wish they came. Everything i have done so far have been by myself except for things you need more then two hands for.

First order of business is replacing the weak factory radio with something more.

A kenwood KDC-X794.

All installed with a ebay double din adapter and harness

Nice man.i got the same truck but mines the 5.4 liter. And I have 2 dc audio xls in a ported box tuned to 34 hz. And only on roufly 2k rms. And its the louldest car ive herd.lol.what you thinking about puttin in it?

well right now it has two 12 inch L5s but i would like to eventually do two 12 L7s or two 15 L7s more pics coming up

X2 on what Krypto said! Also, I got a 1998 Expedition, (Frankenstein) so I love seing other Expedition builds! I know what you mean about the factory head unit, it sucked major balls! LOL! Do you have plans on swapping out the door speakers? The reason I ask is because I am gonna be doing a giveaway shortly on my youtube channel on some RE Audio 5x7's (2 Pair) that would fit in your doors! I will also be doing a give away on some RE Audio 6.5's (2 Pair) as well... Stay tuned to my channel to see the give away videos... just dont know when I am gonna do it yet... (getting lazy!)

might do that though since this is my families spare and not actually mine everything im doing to it im trying to be able to ether be cheap or able to be removed and put in whatever i get which will most likely be a Cherokee. And i still need the trunk space from time to time.

shortly after the HU i got over the stock speakers and really started getting in to audio.

Replaced the front doors with some Kenwood KFC-C6893PS 6x8 3ways

and back doors with some Polk DB571 5x7 2ways

Over all the install was pain free which made me wonder whey anyone with two hands and a brain would pay for someone to put their speakers in. I would much rather do it myself and save money, time and learn how to take the door apart in case i ever have any problems.

Pics of the sub install to come soon. Sorry i bought a prefab box but at the time i didn't trust myself cutting and making a box that's square or being able to wrap it. so no cool box building pics to follow.

im thinking of next pay check (friday) buying a rockford fosgate p400-4 that way im putting about max RMS to each speaker. would also be buying a 0 gauge kit for my subs cause right now its running cheap raptor 4 gauge that the wires feel like hair.
