Square Vs. Round

Hey everyone,

I had a quick question, I am planing to build a system for my civic and I am stuck on whether to buy a 12" Kicker L5 or a traditional round sub woofer with equal stats. Is there a difference or is it just hype?

Square subs theoretically have more cone area than round ones, meaning more air movement. Whether it is worth the difference is up to you. As just about anyone will tell you, the install is the most crucial component on how a system sounds.

IMO the only real difference is looks. It depends on what you want, sound quality or numbers, or a little of both.

The L5's are a decent entry level sub. I have 2 12" L5's in a PT now. But if I'm not mistaken, Kicker is no longer making the L5's, I believe it's just L7's or the new L3's now.

What else are you considering?
