New box design / port flaring

Thanks guys. It is louder to the ears. Until i find a better way, the flares are duct taped to the port, then the connecting rings are duct taped over the connection. I plan on siliconing the gap on the inside.

I have not been on the TL. Still trying to find one close that doesn't charge a ridiculous amount. I was on a Audiocontrol SPL meter a few months back and they said i hit 150db. But then again they are a shady shop, so i want to know what i hit on the TL

I can tell you this, talking about my own experience, i can´t feel or hear some tenths of dbs difference when i upgrade anything, if you say it´s a bit louder now, i can asure you this, you gained a full db or even more by doing this, good job

Thank you for your help and suggestions. After I'm done with the upgrades I want to get metered on a TL.

naaahh i didn´t help anything hommie, i just learned that flares are LOUD as fuck using my Termlab, i did flares before but i didn´t know exactly how much i could gain, i gained almost 2 dbs by flaring PVC on my last test

This was the plain back of the box, nothing exciting to see.

Flared the ports inside the box and ran the wires through the back

No more amp in the way of the ports. wires are just hanging out, i will fix that some other time.

Moved the amp back, Put some rubber for cushion, and added the the second set of power and ground wires.

With the second set of wires connected, seems much more efficient, and it hits a lot lower then it did before.

Are you sure the amp isn´t getting any vibrates and rattles at all? i hate amps attached to the box, too many risks of screw things up, anyways, you should be louder now, when are you thinking on metering this thing??

I am concerned about the amp rattling. I did use the rubber in between the amp and box to help with that. It was still vibrating and rattling before i moved it. The port directly behind it shook it. Next time I get a few days off I will try to get metered, but I have a random schedule.

Maybe you need a little bit more of bracing on that box? i can tell you this, i´m using an Almani 1100.2 for the mids in my explorer and it´s mounted on the box , box doesn´t even feel like it´s playing when you get your hand on it lol, it´s 1" thick with 2 3/4" threaded rods , 3 gallons of resin with some glass and a couple of MDF braces in there, just saying that maybe you can brace it a little bit more so the amplifier stops rattleing...

u could put a couple mdf strips on the box to mount the amp to.

i think those braces in ur box are also hurting air flow & ur score =[.
