Question about box size for 2 Level 4 12's.

Recommended Posts

OK, kind of a weird one but here goes. I currently am running 2 12 inch Rockford P1's in a ported prefab box. The box sucks, so I plan on building a new one this week. The box I am building will be an exact fit for my trunk and will give each sub about 2.5 cubes of space. Tuned at 35-36Hz.

My question is will those Level 4's like this box and tuning? It will be a couple months before I get to order my DC gear so i will be using this time to "find the sweet spot" for my car with my not-so-powerful P1's.

Sounds a little too big.....you want bout 1.5 per sub

Why would you think that?(1.5 is quite low..)

He hasn't gave any specifications except airspace.

How much port area are you gonna use?

How much power are you going to use?

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

What would you reccommend for port area? I am probably going to be using a DC 2K to power them.

For a 12 2.5 cubes is kinda big but yea your right need more info

Sorry, I just used the box recommendation on rockfords site for the P1's, and for their "Power Box" they said give each one 2.1 cubes. I just went a little bigger on size because I plan to brace the Hellout of it. Is the 2.1 still big for the DCs? In torres calc, it says I will have 16.71 per foot. Is that OK, too much, too little?

1.8 cubes(each and it has to be net volume) with about 32sq inches of port each.

So 3.6cubes(NET not gross volume) and 60-64sq inches total.

But could you state your goals so i can make it more accurate for your goals.

What kind of music do you listen to?

How do you want it to sound like?

Well, of course I listen to rap(Jeezy, Ying Yang, anyone with a nice low beat to it). Some rock and some old R and B. I am looking for something that will sound nice and plays pretty low. I would love to in the 140-145 range with the DC's(I know I am not going to get that with my current setup.

If I chose to fire forward and seal off, would I need more port for them?
